I am an National Rifle Association Life Member. Ever since 1991 I have watched my NRA go from a shooting and hunting organization to a political action committee who's goals are to do away with all fi****ms control laws, concealed carry and open carry laws, keeping "bump stocks legal, and becoming a marketer for American and foreign fi****ms manufacturers. Yesterday the man who led this takeover and destruction of the NRA, Wayne La Pierre, the NRA's Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, resigned from all of his NRA offices.

La Pierre is facing criminal corruption charges stemming his misappropriation of the NRA's funds. He used our funds to purchase himself an estate, vacation homes, and other trappings of the the Republican Autocrats that he associated with. One of whom was Donald Trump.

His corruption trial in New York's Manhattan Court is being led by New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, the same lawyer who is suing the Trumps and their businesses in the same court. The jury will be selected this week. The NRA's incorporated under the New York state laws. This trial could force it to dissolve.

Forty years ago, 1983, the Reagan Administration published the infamous report on America's Public Schools titled A NATION AT RISK.

On New Years Day, 2024 Thomas Ultican published an analysis of the NAR report reviewing the history of Reagan's National Commission on Excellence in Education and finds that the Commission was a Hoover Institute setup.

The Commission was made up of individuals who were on record of attacking our Public Schools, and continued attacking Public Education later in their careers.

This flawed study is at the heart of the sustained attack on the American Free Public Schools and the ill conceived "reforms" since it was issued.

Its findings were not supported by any data except the declining scores of the College Board's SAT scores at the time. Current research has shown that the SAT and its sister the ACT reflect the socioeconomic status of the students taking the tests and are not a reliable predictor of these students future success as they continue their education in the nation's colleges and universities.

The Freedom Caucus (Trumpist) controlled GOP House of Representatives returns next week to start the second year of their two year term of office. In 1948 President Harry Truman campaigned against another GOP controlled Congress and named them the "Do Nothing Congress>" He won the election, although the Chicago Tribune published the headline "Dewey Wins" the morning after election day. The "Do Nothing Congress" of 1948 ineptitude pales when it is compared to the current 118th Congress. Although the Republicans and Democrats in the Senate keep passing important bills on such things as funding Ukraine's war against the Russian invasion, on immigration reform and border protection, paying the bills for the money Trump borrowed and doubled the National Debt the four years he was in office or raising the debt limit to delay paying these bills, the list goes on!

The GOP keeps showing the voters of America that when they hold office they are incapable of governing. All they want to do is to lower the taxes on their rich donors, punish the LGBTQ+ persons, and to establish a national religion [Christian Nationalists] like Ottawa Impact is trying to do in Ottawa County Michigan.

Yes they are indeed the worst "Do Nothing Congress" in our history, but with Mr Trump they are determined to end our Representative Republic that was first established in 1789! We need to replace these Representatives with people who will do the peoples' work and not fight for weeks over who the next Speaker of the House will be. Vote Nov 5, 2024 and throw the lazy bums out!

Check out the investigative reporting in the Dec 22, 23 Washington Post about how Nikki Haley went from being broke and do***ng process servers to avoid having to go to court and be forced into bankruptcy in 2018, when she resigned as our Ambassador to the UN, to being a multi-millionaire with elite homes today. The article is titled "When her family needed money, Nikki Haley found a lucrative path".

It almost seems the the Republican Party has gone from the party o the of conservative, fiscally responsible, responsible politicians to being the party of crooks, grifters, conpersons, and even criminals. It is so sad to say that it is no longer the party of my father and grandfather. Where are politicians like my friends Bill Millican, Jack Griffin, Jerry Ford, and Guy Vander Jack?

Today we are witnessing the once great Party of Lincoln as it circles the drain of oblivion following the lead of such paragons of honesty as Donald Trump, Joe Moss, Sylvia Rhodea, Joe Gibbs, Kristina Karamo, and David Kallman.

We can only hope that it dies a quick death for the sake or preserving our Democratic Republic and our right to rule ourselves.

If Trump appeals the decision of the Colorado Supreme Court he could lose the right to run for or hold the office of the President of the United States! He should tread with extreme caution.

The Justices of the SCOUS that Trump and G W Bush appointed claim to be Strict Constructionists.

They claimed that this view of the Constitution was the reason they overturned Roe.

If they read Sec 3 of the 14th Amendment as written and how the authors applied this section after it was passed they will find that 1. Trump was the ultimate civil office holder of the United States; 2. That his speech on January 6 was not protected speech under the Constitution, but was a “campaign speech” and a call for insurrection to stop an official proceeding required under Article II Section 1 Paragraph 3 of the Constitution of the United States falls under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. 3. Section 3 of the 14 when first applied didn’t require an actual conviction, just documentation of the acts to disqualify individuals from running for or holding office in any branch of the Federal Government.

If the Justices of SCOUS don’t rule this way than they are not Strict Constructionists, but are activist judges that they claim to b opposed to. This will be interesting to watch.

In all the appeals they have considered since Trump's trials have begun they seem to be remaining true to their Strict Constructionist beliefs. The very justices Trump is so proud of appointing are now beyond his control and influence He, like many of his predecessors, may well live to regret who he appointed to life long appointments which are now free from his control and influence.

I would not be surprised if they unanimously rule against Mr. Trump and thus ban him from ever holding any Federal office and allow our court system to hold him to account for all the illegal activities that he has engaged in for most of his life.

Wow. the Supreme Court of the state of Colorado ruled that Donald Trump engaged in an insurrection on January 6, 2020. Trump now has two must win appeals before the SCOUSA that he must win; Jack Smith's over "Ex-President's Executive Immunity" and now he's sure to appeal this Colorado Supreme Court ruling.

The Biden Administration finally has the ability to negotiate with Big Pharma to lower the price of the drugs seniors need to stay alive, that we the people paid for the bulk of the research through our taxes, and Big Pharma was granted the patents for. I take 3 of the 10 very expensive drugs that Biden wants thee prices cut on. Trump talked about forcing these companies to cut the price of insulin, but did nothing. Biden forced them to cut the price of insulin, Now he is threatening to use the Blyh-Dole Act that was passed during Jimmy Carter's Administration to recall their patents and allow generic manufacturers, Perigo, to produce and sell these drugs.

It is another case where the Republicans just talk a good game but the Democrats actually do the job.

Hipocaccy raises its ugly head again. The Fascist leaders of today GOP cynically created the "Moms for Liberty" to demand that anything that discussed the LGBTQ+ community be banned from our school and public libraries. That teachers be fired if they "said the word 'gay'". It was founded by Bridget Ziegler who is the wife of the Christian Ziegler, the head of the Florida GOP.

Now Bridget and Christian [oh the irony of his first name] have admitted having sexual encounters with a second woman and not Christian stands accused of ra**ng their sexual partner.

How long will it take for true Christians to understand that they have been duped into supporting the goals of the Fascists that have taken over the GOP?

Get real folks. If you want this country led by practicing Christians you need to start supporting Joe Biden, who is a lifelong Roman Catholic and a Christian who truly lives his faith. Why would you decide to support Donald Trump whose lifestyle. language and lies clearly demonstrate that he is not a Christian and that he is simply using those Christian leaders who are supporting him for his own gain.

As originally written the US Constitution set the method of determining the number of Representatives in the House of Representatives by the number of people living in each state. As the House grew to large to be seated in the original House Chamber (and the Senate Chamber) the number of voters in the Congressional Districts was adjusted upward. This shifted the balance of power to the smaller states and took away political power from the largest states....
