A former Metropolitan Police officer who launched a "campaign of r**e" against his victims, including a child, has had his sentence increased.

Cliff Mitchell carried out more than 50 s*x attacks against two female victims between 2014 and 2023, including in September, when he tied up a woman with cable ties and put duct tape over her mouth.

The 24-year-old was jailed for life with a minimum term of 13 years and 225 days at Croydon Crown Court in May after being found guilty of 10 counts of r**e, three counts of ra**ng a child under 13, one count of kidnap and breach of a non-molestation order.

Judges at the Court of Appeal have now extended this to a minimum term of 17 years and 225 days.

A white supremacist who stabbed an asylum seeker at a hotel in a "protest" against small boat crossings has been found guilty of attempted murder.

Callum Ulysses Parslow, 32, stabbed Nahom Hagos in the chest and hand at the Pear Tree Inn at Smite near Worcester, Leicester Crown Court heard.

Parslow told the jury he travelled to the hotel on 2 April to stab "one of the Channel migrants" because he was "angry and frustrated". Mr Hagos is a 25-year-old Eritrean national who has been granted leave to remain in the UK until November 2028.

Parslow was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

The murder of a pa******le at HMP Full Sutton could have been avoided if reports on his killers' cannibalistic fantasies had been acted upon, a report has found.

Richard Huckle, 33, died after a 78-minute attack by Paul Fitzgerald, 30, in his cell in October 2019.

Huckle, from Ashford, Kent, had been serving 22 life sentences after admitting the s*xual abuse of up to 200 Malaysian children aged between six months and 12 years.

The Ministry of Justice said "significant improvements" have been made since the incident to "better spot and tackle those who pose a risk to other prisoners".

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman said there were "missed opportunities" to identify an increased risk of serious violence leading up to Huckle's death.

In total, four separate security intelligence reports about Fitzgerald were made in the 10 days before he carried out the attack.

On 13 October 2019, Fitzgerald went into Huckle's cell, tied him up, r**ed him and assaulted him with various weapons before strangling him with an electrical cord.

Fitzgerald, who was jailed for 34 years for Huckle's murder, had spoken to prison staff about his "extremely violent fantasies".

Diagnosed with a personality disorder with psychopathic traits in 2008, Fitzgerald told an officer prior to the attack he had "constant" thoughts of murder, r**e, cannibalism and torture.

The ombudsman, Sue McAllister, said all reports should be analysed promptly and appropriate action should be taken when any prisoner indicates they might be considering an act of violence

Asylum seeker hotel worker, 27, stabbed to death 'with screwdriver' as man, 18, charged with murder

Rhiannon Skye Whyte, 27, was killed at a railway station after she left work on Sunday night. She was hospitalised after the attack and died three days later.

An 18-year-old has been arrested and was subsequently charged with her murder.

Residents of the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, close to Walsall FC’s stadium in Bescot, West Mids, where Rhiannon worked have been moved out of the hotel.
