MITT ROMNEY WILL VOTE TO CONVICT TRUMP, BREAKING WITH FELLOW REPUBLICANS

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) will vote to convict President Donald Trump in the impeachment trial on the charge of abuse of power, becoming the only Republican to break with the president and his party.

"The grave question the Constitution tasks senators to answer is whether the president committed an act so extreme and egregious that it rises to the level of a “high crime and misdemeanor.”

”Yes, he did," Romney said.

The move denies Trump the unanimous Republican support he had sought and is sure to invite an avalanche of attacks from the president and his allies.

STORMS BACK INTO WITH HUNTER DOCUMENTARY. TRUMP ATTORNEY

Rudy Giuliani is working on a new documentary on Hunter Biden, as President Trump’s personal attorney reemerges as the central figure behind efforts to continue to investigate Democrats’ ties to Ukraine, three Republican sources familiar with the project told Yahoo News.

Giuliani and his production team, led by veteran California Republican fixer Tim Yale, have been conducting interviews for the documentary, according to two of the people familiar with the effort. They have also approached potential investors in the film, showing them trailers with footage of former Vice President Joe Biden and actors portraying Hunter Biden and Ukrainian officials, according to one of those sources.

Giuliani did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Yale, Giuliani’s partner on the documentary, also didn’t return requests for comment.

Just a few months ago, in the midst of the proceedings, Giuliani had become politically toxic for Trump, and some Republicans were urging to dump him.

**FACT CHECK** RIPPING UP COPY OF TRUMP SPEEC.H NOT ILLEGAL. SAVED?

There's no disputing that House Speaker caused quite a stir when she tore up her copy of President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech at the end of his address. Pelosi said she decided to shred what she saw as a “compilation of falsehoods” to make a statement ”that clearly indicates to the American people that this is not the truth." and his Republican allies, for their part, saw Pelosi's action as an act of disrespect — and an illegal one at that. Legal experts disagreed, saying the speech was Pelosi's to do with what she wanted.

TRUMP: “I thought it was a terrible thing when she ripped up the speech. First of all, it's an official document. You're not allowed. It's illegal what she did. She broke the law.”

THE FACTS:
Legal experts say no laws were broken. They said it was not an original government document, but Pelosi 's copy of the speech.

**HEALTH ALERT** ALL TRAVELERS FROM MAINLAND BEING MONITORED FOR IN L.A. COUNTY

County public health nurses are closely monitoring all residents who have recently traveled to mainland China, regardless of whether they have any symptoms of the new strain of coronavirus, according to the county’s top health official.

More than 1,000 people have been assigned a public health nurse and asked for self-isolate and not to go to work or school for 14 days, Department of Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer told the Board of Supervisors on Monday.

“This is an aggressive effort to touch all the people who’ve come into L.A. County,” Ferrer said.

The health department is also reaching out to employers and schools and asking them to accommodate travelers with flexible leave and the ability to manage tasks from home.

“It’s a very small number of people ... but nonetheless, those people need all of our support,” Ferrer said.

** HEALTH ALERT** MOST FROM CASES ARE MILD, COMPLICATING THE RESPONSE

The coronavirus has killed more than 1,300 people, brought a huge swath of central China to a standstill and rattled millions around the globe with hints of a pandemic seen in Hollywood fantasies.

But the virus’s destructive potential has overshadowed one encouraging aspect of this outbreak: So far, about 82 percent of the cases — including all 14 in the United States — have been mild, with symptoms that require little or no medical intervention. And that proportion may be an undercount.

Health authorities managing the outbreak are trying to understand what that critical fact portends. Are the 60,000 sick people tallied so far just a portion of a vast reservoir of uncounted victims, some of whom may be spreading the disease? And do the mild illnesses reveal characteristics of the virus itself — something that could be useful in crafting a more effective response?

In China’s province and Wuhan city, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, the number of new infections rose by 14,840 in a count released Thursday, with 242 new deaths, as health officials there broadened the criteria they are using to confirm cases.

** HEALTH ALERT** RESIDENTS RETURNING FROM FORCED INTO ‘SELF-ISOLATION’ OVER FEARS

About 200 Georgia residents who recently traveled to China have been forced to “self-isolate” amid the sweeping coronavirus scare, officials announced this week.

The travelers spent time in mainland China, but not Hubei province — the epicenter of the outbreak — before returning home, and have shown no symptoms of the deadly bug, Georgia’s Department of Public Health said in a statement obtained by local outlet WTOC.

Authorities avoided using the word “quarantine,” instead of saying that people are being isolated in their homes during the illness’ 14-day incubation period, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

But the Trump administration has used the term in a directive ordering all American citizens returning from Hubei province into 14 days of mandatory quarantine.

Americans returning from the rest of mainland China need to undergo additional screening at airports and potential self-administered quarantine, the White House has ordered.

Health officials in Georgia have called the recent travelers to explain the requirements — and stress the importance of notifying authorities of any potential coronavirus symptoms, the Journal-Constitution reported.

Anyone who shows symptoms or tests positive for the illness will be immediately hospitalized in a quarantined area.

As of Wednesday, coronavirus has infected more than 45,000 people globally and is responsible for more than 1,100 deaths — the vast majority in mainland China.

Fourteenth case of coronavirus diagnosed in the US.

The 14th case of coronavirus, or COVID-19, has been confirmed in the US, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Wednesday.

The case is in California and the patient is among a group under a federal quarantine ordered because of its recent return to the US on a State Department-chartered flight that arrived last week, according to the CDC.

The CDC said it expects more cases in the coming weeks and days, including others who recently returned from Wuhan, China where the virus originated.

More than 600 people who returned on chartered flights from remain under federal quarantine; 195 were discharged from quarantine yesterday, according to the CDC.

This is the second person at this base who tested positive for the virus. The two patients arrive on different planes and were housed in separate facilities, CDC said.

**WATCH** Nancy SLAMS Donald For Interf*ring In Roger Sentencing

Nancy Pelosi slammed Donald Trump for interfering in the sentencing of Roger after the Justice Department announced that it will seek less jail time for the president's longtime adviser.

The Department of Justice dramatically reversed its demand to jail Stone for up to nine years in a move announced Tuesday – hours after Trump slammed it on Twitter as a 'miscarriage of justice'.

House Speaker expressed outrage over the news in her own tweet, writing: 'By tweet real Donald Trump engaged in political interference in the sentencing of Roger Stone.

'It is outrageous that DOJ has deeply damaged the rule of law by withdrawing its recommendation. Stepping down of prosecutors should be commended & actions of DOJ should be investigated.'

has denied asking Attorney General William Barr to roll back the DoJ's original recommendation - a move that prompted fresh allegations of abuse of power against the president.

Accuses Of Political Interference. Calls for New Investigation.

The Republican-controlled Senate voted last Wednesday to acquit Donald Trump on both articles of impeachment.

Less than a week after Democrats impeachment hoax imploded, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is already leveling new charges against the president.

Pelosi took to on Tuesday night to accuse Trump of engaging in “political interference in the sentencing of Roger Stone and called for an investigation into the Department of Justice.

Pelosi also commended the four prosecutors who quit Stone’s case Tuesday after the asked for a lighter sentence than what they had recommended.

“By tweet engaged in political interference in the sentencing of Roger Stone,” she wrote. “It is outrageous that DOJ has deeply damaged the rule of law by withdrawing its recommendation. Stepping down of prosecutors should be commended & actions of DOJ should be investigated.”

Pelosi was originally referring to Trump quoting reporters’ tweets calling it “very unfair,” a “miscarriage of justice” and a “ridiculous 9 year sentence recommendation.”

However, less than 10 minutes after Pelosi’s tweet was sent, Trump sent a tweet attacking the prosecutors.

Trump tweeted, “Who are the four prosecutors (Mueller people?) who cut and ran after being exposed for recommending a ridiculous 9 year prison sentence to a man that got caught up in an investigation that was illegal, the Mueller Scam, and shouldn’t ever even have started? 13 Angry ?"

What's Open, Closed On Presidents 2020 In .

Here's important information on what will be open and closed on Presidents Day in 2020.

ACROSS AMERICA — Day will be Monday, Feb. 17, and a variety of services will be closed across the United States on the day.

The holiday, which was originally established in 1885 to honor George Washington, will provide a much-appreciated three-day weekend for many. But it also means that services such as the U.S. Post Office, banks and public schools will not open on the day.

Here's a breakdown of how the holiday could affect your routine.

Banks: With the Federal Reserve system not operating on Feb. 17, most banks will stay closed on Presidents Day. However, ATMs will operate on the holiday and TD Bank will also be open.

Courts: Courts will not open on Presidents Day.

DMV: The Department of Motor Vehicles is rarely a place anybody wants to be and the DMV offices will be closed across the country. Check your local DMV's website for more information as some offices will be closed for the entire Presidents Day weekend.

Stock Markets: The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and bond markets will be closed.

Schools: Since Presidents Day is a federal holiday, the majority of schools will be closed on Feb. 17. With that being said, certain private schools and even public schools do not observe the holiday, or choose to use the day as a makeup for a snow day earlier in the academic year. Presidents Day will also be the first day of mid-winter vacation for many schools.

Trash Pickup: In the majority of the United States garbage disposal companies will not be running, so you'll want to plan accordingly. The service will vary, though, meaning you should check with your local provider.

United States Postal Service: The postal service will not be opening its offices or delivering mail on Presidents Day.

The transition in the holiday's name from Washington's Birthday to Presidents Day began in the late 1960s as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. The bill proposed that the country celebrate holidays on Monday rather than when birthdays fell on the calendar so workers could have a three-day weekend.

During the debate of that bill, it was proposed that Washington's Birthday be renamed Presidents Day to celebrate the birthdays of both Washington on Feb. 22 and President Abraham Lincoln's birthday on Feb. 12.

Congress actually rejected the name change in the 1968 version of the bill. However, after the bill went into effect in 1971, Presidents Day became the commonly accepted name.
