This is terrifying and should not happen in the United States of America. No government official should be able to tell this woman what to do with her body. Nobody. These public officials make me ill. And they should make you ill, too. If you support this in the name of your religion, you need a new one.

The case involves Kate Cox, who asked the nonprofit Center for Reproductive Rights for help in obtaining an abortion after she learned her fetus had a genetic syndrome.

Thank you President Macron of France, Chancellor Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Meloni of Italy, Prime Minister Sunak of the United Kingdom, and President Biden of the United States:

Today, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States of America released the following joint statement following their call:

Today, we — President Macron of France, Chancellor Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Meloni of Italy, Prime Minister Sunak of the United Kingdom, and President Biden of the United States — express our steadfast and united support to the State of Israel, and our unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its appalling acts of terrorism.

We make clear that the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy, and must be universally condemned. There is never any justification for terrorism. In recent days, the world has watched in horror as Hamas terrorists massacred families in their homes, slaughtered over 200 young people enjoying a music festival, and kidnapped elderly women, children, and entire families, who are now being held as hostages.

Our countries will support Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people against such atrocities. We further emphasize that this is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks to seek advantage.

All of us recognize the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, and support equal measures of justice and freedom for Israelis and Palestinians alike. But make no mistake: Hamas does not represent those aspirations, and it offers nothing for the Palestinian people other than more terror and bloodshed.

Over the coming days, we will remain united and coordinated, together as allies, and as common friends of Israel, to ensure Israel is able to defend itself, and to ultimately set the conditions for a peaceful and integrated Middle East region.

Today, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States of America released the following joint statement following their call: Today, we — President Macron of France, Chancellor Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Meloni of Italy, Prime Minister Sunak of the United ....

A while back we hosted Tracey Hughes on an episode about the fantasy of a post-racial America. Recent events have brought it back to mind and I thought we would share a list of links that she recommends when beginning to educate yourself on this issue.

From our recent guest Dr. Christine Norton:
"Several weeks ago, I was interviewed for the podcast "Beyond Fantasyland: Conversations on S*x, Politics and Religion" by my dear friends Kent Krabill and Michelle Morr Krabill. I grew up with Michelle in the Way International, a religious organization that could easily be described as a cult. Kent, Michelle and I have had similar journeys out of hateful, toxic, fundamentalist religion and politics, doing our work to unpack many spoon-fed myths and ignorant worldviews. Today, Kent, a graduate of Pepperdine Law School, is a highly sought-after trial attorney, and he and Michelle are political activists, writers, and podcast hosts and producers. They are also the proud parents of bi-coastal college students who are also deep thinkers and activists, Caedmon (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) and Rosalind (University of Central Florida). In short, Kent, Michelle, and their family are actively involved in making the world a better place. So, when they asked me if I would be on their podcast, I was deeply honored and quickly obliged.
But a funny thing sometimes happens when you open up and tell deep truths about your own story...shame rears its ugly head. Shame that comes in the form of thoughts like, "who are you to tell your story? who will even care about what you have to say? do you even have the right to tell your own story? what will be the negative consequences of telling your story?" I felt these fears deeply in my body, not unlike some of the trauma I experienced as a child.
You see, when you grow up in a "church" with highly traditional gender role expectations, when you are taught to perform, blend, acquiesce, people please, and when you are discouraged to think for yourself, and in fact, thinking for yourself is seen as a sign of disloyalty or even sin, you learn to suppress your voice, your needs, your truest thoughts and feelings. It is a painful uncovering to find it again, even in middle age. So speaking my truth during this interview made me feel like a little girl again--nervous, insecure, hyper-vigilant about what others will think--which is why I let a few weeks pass between doing the interview and posting it.
But I woke up this morning after a night of strange dreams, and I knew I needed to share this. I need to own my story. I need to speak my truth in love, inviting those who disagree or are offended the opportunity to set aside aggression and hold my story with curiosity and empathy, not judgment. Curiosity and empathy about each other's stories is at the heart of dialogue, and as I say in this podcast interview, I believe that it is dialogue that can save the world. ❤️"

27/11/2022

What we are doing to the trans community is based on religion and is NOT backed by evidence. Two quotes illustrate this nicely:

“I believe very strongly that if the Good Lord made you a boy, you are a boy, and if he made you a girl, you are a girl,” Alabama’s Republican Gov. Kay Ivey said in a statement when she signed her state’s ban on care into law.

And …

“Nothing is more ominous than allowing politicians and attorneys to render medical judgments on our nation’s children,” Brown added. “The greatest myth perpetrated by these lawmakers is that there are high numbers who regret and that young people are incapable of making permanent decisions about their gender identity, neither of which are supported by any documented evidence.”

25/11/2022

Ten Arlington, Texas pastors urged the mayor and city council to ban LGBTQIA+ Pride month displays in public libraries. Think about that for a moment. These pastors believe that members of the LGBTQIA+ community are so dangerous that books about their community need to be kept away from the public. Simultaneously, in an astounding display of deception, several of these pastors intentionally lure members of the LGBTQIA+ community to their churches by promising them that they will be "loved" and "welcome". Don't believe them. These pastors -- and their churches -- are anti-science and anti-LGBTQIA+. Who are the pastors? Sadly, two of the ten are my former pastors.
"Co-signers of the emailed letter include Gary Hutchison of Grace Community Church; Maurice Pugh of New Life Fellowship; Richard Martinez of Iglesia Cafe; Dennis Wiles of First Baptist Church Arlington; Marty Collier of Rush Creek; Ronnie Goines of Koinonia Christian Church; Jason Paredes of Fielder Church; Jeff Hubbard of North Davis Church of Christ; Stephen Hammond of Mosaic Church and Eric Herrstrom of Lake Church."
***Please note that there are welcoming and affirming churches in the area that choose to practice their faith and actually love and serve all people. If you choose to attend a Christian church -- or any faith community -- there are much healthier options than the churches set forth above.
Peace.
