Carrying arms will solve Nigeria's security problem – Ned Nwoko

The lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, has defended his proposed bill that will allow Nigerians to bear arms for self-defence stating that it could serve as a deterrent against criminal activities, particularly kidnappings.

When asked if Nigerians carrying arms will solve the nation’s security problem, Nwoko, in an interview with Channels TV on Wednesday, said, “Oh, it will. It will.”

Nwoko then shared a personal story of loss, recounting how his Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) was killed in a kidnapping incident last November.

“The estate was attacked by kidnappers going from house to house. When they got to their door, my SLA told his wife to hide with the children. He opened the door to talk to them, and he was taken away. We never saw him alive again,” he said.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Nwoko argued that armed citizens could discourage criminals from operating so freely.

“If he had a gun, or if others in the community had guns, would the kidnappers have had the audacity to go door to door? That wouldn’t happen,” he said.

However, Nwoko clarified that his proposal includes strict regulations.

Court Order: How Tinubu’s intervention empowered my opponents – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday, expressed his indifference towards the Federal High Court’s decision stopping the Central Bank of Nigeria’s, CBN, from releasing state allocations.

This is as the governor said his approach to the crisis, in adherence to the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, empowered his opponents.

While Governor Fubara expressed no regrets for seeking peace, he acknowledged that this approach may have inadvertently empowered his opponents.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a ruling on Wednesday halting the CBN from releasing monthly financial allocations to the Rivers State Government.

The ruling cited a violation of the 1999 Constitution regarding the presentation of the 2024 budget before a four-member Rivers State House of Assembly.

Justice Abdulmalik stated that the disbursement of monthly allocations by Governor Fubara since January of this year constituted a breach of the Constitution.

Speaking during a special thanksgiving service aimed at celebrating his administration’s resilience amid recent political turmoil, including an arson attack on the State House of Assembly on October 29, 2023, Fubara assured Rivers people that his administration would continue to disburse payments to contractors and ensure timely salary payments to workers starting tomorrow (on Thursday).

Governor Fubara confirmed that allocations for the 23 Council Chairmen would also be processed, as the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee, JAAC, procedures have been finalized.

He encouraged his supporters to maintain their resilience, emphasizing that challenges can be overcome.

Drama As Senate President, Akpabio Warns Senator To Stop Admiring Bianca Ojukwu During Screening.

There was mild drama today as Senate President Godswill Akpabio cautioned Senator Osita Ngwu for praising the beauty of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu during a ministerial screening on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.

Bianca, like six other ministerial nominees screened by the Senate, read her credentials before the red chamber and was subsequently quizzed by the lawmakers. She was screened for the post of Minister of State Foreign Affairs.

When Akpabio opened the floor for questions, Ngwu, who currently serves as the Senator representing Enugu West District in the 10th National Assembly, started by applauding Bianca’s beauty to which he attracted a rebuke.

“Mr President, the beautiful nominee standing before us,” the lawmaker said.

“Restrict yourself to the resume. Forget this word beautiful,” Akpabio interjected jocularly. “She didn’t put in the CV that she is beautiful.”

The conversation between Ngwu and Akpabio caused a ripple of laughter among Senators. Ngwu thereafter proceeded to laud the profile and competence of the nominee.

On his part, Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator representing Abia South District, said Biance’s competence and ability to perform was not in doubt.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for nominating the “mother” of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a minister. “By bringing an APGA person to be a minister has already started a unity government and national integration,” Abaribe said.

The nominee was subsequently asked to take a bow.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is an accomplished diplomat, lawyer, businesswoman and beauty pageant titleholder.

In 2011, then President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Bianca as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs. She later became Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and later Ambassador to the Kingdom Of Spain. She is Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nat

Popular Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has disclosed that she met her husband during an outing with one of her ex-boyfriends.

Regina Daniels, however, said her mum and entire family opposed her marriage to Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko.

Disclosing this during a live on Instagram, the actress said: “I went to visit my boyfriend and I was so angry about why we had to go sightseeing, but when we got there I met a cute man.

“The moral of the story is that your boyfriend should not stop you from seeing your husband.

“When I started with my husband I forgot I was to have boyfriends; of course, I had like 20. When people think I don’t have a choice, I’m like what?

“People were saying mummy forced me not knowing that she was against the marriage, my full family said no.”

Nwoko married Regina Daniels in May 2019 in Aniocha Local Government Area, Delta State despite the huge gap in age.

Explaining why he married the 23-year-old actress, the 63-year-old politician said he tied the knot because Regina Daniels was from his place.

“For her particularly, I married her because she is from my place. I wanted to marry a wife from my place, and I was looking for the right person. By the time I met her, I knew she must be the one,” Nwoko had said.

Chikwado Eze was bùrièd alive for 4tification, and he dieeed in the process.

Chikwado's visa was out, and he went to his village Ugbaike in Igbo-Eze north LGA in Enugu state to inform his father, but his father suggested they visit a native doctor for 4tification so that he will be successful abroad.
They got to Onuwa, the native doctor who said that Chikwado should be bùriéd alive for 1hr30 minutes after which he will exhùmèd. After 1hr30mins, they exhùmèd him, and he was dead already.

Police came and arrested his father, Uwakwe, and the native doctor.

Open On Mondays Or Be Sealed - Soludo Warns Market leaders

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has directed shops across the state to open every Monday.

The Governor gave the directive while embarking on an inspection visit to markets across the state.

In markets visited, it was observed that many shops were under lock and key.

According to the Governor, going forward, the state government will intensify the provision of security in markets.

He lamented that the closure of markets on Mondays has adverse effects on personal income of citizens, assuring that he will pay a repeat visit every Monday to ensure full compliance.

A lot of people said that Ayamelum Television is trying to blackmail the image of Mr Tony Ifeanya. Nsugbe- The Senator Representing Anambra North Senatorial District and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Disease Control, Senator Dr Tony Nwoye has flagged off the distribution of fertilisers worth over N150 million to Local farmers in Anambra North Senatorial District. Senator Nwoye shared 1,900 bags of 50kg fertiliser to smallholder farmers across the four local government areas Anambra West, Anambra East, Oyi and Ayamelum in the first phase of the exercise as part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable agricultural practices while Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Ogbaru will take part in the second Phase. *In His Remark, Dr Tony Nwoye urged the recipients to make optimal use of the fertilizers, emphasizing that it is not for sale.
