Whether in Texas or beyond, we are so thankful for our Nomad family. Over the last year, our members have become a little more spread out with some traveling the country and others finding new opportunities. We've lost a dear friend, grieved for him, and carried on as we know he would have wanted. We've grown as individuals, as a family, and as a group.

Thank you all for joining us on the first leg of our Grand Nomad Adventure. Thank you for supporting our group and the people within it. Thank you for helping make this year much brighter than we could have expected.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Mason has shared his take on another National Park to our blog. This time, he's giving everyone the rundown on Rocky Mountain National Park. Check it out and let us know what you think!

John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" has a special place in my heart. I feel a certain kinship with the protagonist of its narrative and, by extension, Denver himself. Having grown up a "flatlander", my closest exposure to mountainous terrain was the Ozarks. While they have their own beauty that begs...

This is a long one, but valuable info to all Jeepers who plan to go to either Stoney Lonesome OHV in Alabama or Windrock Park in Tennessee. We went to both parks this week to get all 6 Badges of Honor at the two parks. We had an interesting experience, and want to share our take on each park.

Windrock:
The park has 300 miles of trails. We drove through much of the park and quickly realized that at least 200 miles of trails are basically dirt roads. Everything rated "Easy" is a dirt road. Everything rated "Moderate" is a dirt road with a few rocks. Only when you get to the "Difficult" trails do you begin to find obstacles. We did have some minor damage on one difficult trail due to the slippery mud, but everything else was pretty simple. We tried to find "Extreme" trails we could do on the map, but almost every trail with this rating said no Jeeps.
Additionally, Windrock is FULL of side-by-sides. We saw about a dozen Jeeps the entire time we were there. We believe this park was created for SXS and that is why it is rated the way it is. However, the RV campground connected to the park is one of the nicest we've stayed at. If it wasn't for the incredibly loud SXS driving through during the night, it would get a 10 out of 10.

Stoney Lonesome OHV:
This is a very very small park. Also seemingly built for SXS, but with the opposite problem that Windrock has. Two of the Jeep BOH trails here are virtually impassable in Jeeps. The park says they have recently been washed out, but they require serious mods and recovery gear to complete. The moderate trails (labeled "Advanced" at this park) were fun and a good Sunday drive. For comparison, the access roads at this park were more difficult than most of the Moderate trails at Windrock. This park is so small, a person could complete every passable trail in two days at this park.
The RV park, was also fine here. Smaller, and not as luxurious, but also not as packed, so a lot quieter.

For reference, every Jeep in our group was sitting on a minimum 4-inch lift with 37-inch tires and lockers, among other mods.

We are aware that not everyone will have the same experience we did, but we were just not that impressed with either park. Our favorite park remains Hot Springs ORV park by a significant margin.

In case you haven't seen it, there was another horrific accident on Black Bear Pass in Colorado. Having seen this trail first hand (and having been part of a very close call recovery) we know the trail is no joke. Be careful out there and remember than an easy trail can sometimes have expert level consequences. We're glad everyone survived this, especially the poor doggo.

Currently, the automotive industry is all the rage about crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. There are many reasons for the craze, but some owners praise them for the added safety. Although, they can also only do so much...

Looks like the Mint 400 is moving to March - one month after King of the Hammers wraps up. Would be really cool if we had some folks on the West Coast to get footage of both races. 😉

They call it, unofficially, the Great American Off-Road Race, but the stage name for it is Mint 400. We’re talking about a competition for some of the world’s most rugged vehicles, taking place in Nevada ever since 1968.

We have a blog, y'all! Mason and Amanda have begun writing about their Grand Nomad Adventure, providing insights into their experiences. Today, Mason shared his thoughts (and some really neat photos) on Yellowstone National Park. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Hi, y'all. Mason here to start a new series of blog posts where I share my opinions about the National Parks we're seeing on our grand nomad adventure. I want to kick this off with a controversial one, because there's a seeming lack of honesty out there about these places. Considering Yellowstone is...
