just your daily reminder that social media isn’t real ‼️ I live streamed this look on TikTok without blurring filters for the first time and got dozens of comments about how bad my skin looked and how it’s a good thing I was covering it up. The thing is, textured skin and acne affect about 85% of people! Social media has created a space where people are slowly starting to embrace ‘imperfections’, but only on people who otherwise fit mainstream perceptions of beauty. Even as an advocate for unconditional body positivity, I still find myself tempted to blur out some of my skin texture or whiten my teeth a tad. But I don’t need to and I won’t be moving forwards. I want my social media channels to be a safe place for people to see accurate representations of people. It’s time to stop expecting beauty to look a certain way and start celebrating ourselves the way we look in person. So here’s a photo of me, un-plucked eyebrows, unwhitened teeth, acne, mascara smears and all :) tbh, I think I look beautiful 🥰

today I bought this one piece swimsuit. it’s a size 10. the last time I bought swimwear i was a size 4. gaining weight has been an uphill battle for me. i hated the fact that my thighs grew larger and my belly started folding over when i sat down. i felt like i couldn’t wear shorts due to my cellulite. recently, however, ive started learning to love my body how it is. it’s unrealistic to expect my adult body to look the way it did when i was a teenager. i am on medication that alters the way my body looks but leaves my mental health in a much better state. my body has carried me through all the highs and lows of my life so far and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. i have wasted so many breaths hating something i cant control and i refuse to let these restrictions continue to hold me back from wearing the clothes I want to wear any longer :)
