LOCAL | GBPI TV11 reporter Albert Luna gets debunked by the City Spokesperson Liza Jocson for his claim at the recently concluded State of the City Address (SOCA) last Monday, 26 February 2024.
In his claim, Luna said that media coverage was not allowed during the SOCA event.
"First time in history de Zamboanga nohay man allow media coverage na SOCA. Audience lang mio mga uban alya" Luna said in a Facebook post.
In her response, Jocson commented on his post to correct his claim, stating that the media, including those from GBPI TV11 was there covering the said event.
"Sir Albert, I don’t usually comment on social media but I don’t think this statement is fair. We have given every opportunity to the media to cover the SOCA. The media were allowed to roam around the function hall to get interviews, take footages of the guests, cover their arrival and any other act that will ensure a good coverage on their part. I called every media station to ensure that they will come to Astoria and cover this important event. We just requested them to refrain from taking video coverage of the mayor’s speech in front so as not to cover the mayor from the guests who were watching and listening at the back. We instructed them to get videos from our livestream coverage, but we are prepared to provide videos should they fail to get complete coverage." Jocson said.
She even reminded Luna that the city hall contacted every TV and Radio Stations to discuss the arrangements set for this year's SOCA
"As far as I know, every station manager or station representative I talked to agreed to this arrangement. Anyway we are open to suggestions on how we can improve coverages in the future." she added.
So far, all TV and Radio Stations have covered the city's recent SOCA, to include special and independent coverages from Emedia Mo, 96.3 IFM Zamboanga, and 99.5 XFM Zamboanga. There was also coverage from GBPI TV11 with the presence of their camera crew at the said event.
