Good morning everyone.
One of our community members, Nate (Baller Green) found himself the victim of an online scam. To summarize, he was trying to sell his gaming laptop to raise funds to put towards a Gaming PC. The buyer offered to pay extra for expedited shipping, as the laptop was going to be a Birthday gift. Nate sent it out in good faith, and this unfortunately turned out to not be the case. Nate was left with no laptop, and out the funds for expedited shipping. We also discovered his mom made a nearly 2 hour round trip for Nate to take the package to a main hub instead of the rural center they live near to ensure on time delivery of the package.
Nate originally told me about this in a private message. I could tell he was upset. I decided I wanted to help. I floated the idea to my moderators, and we agreed to do something. Without Nates knowledge, I put up a donation goal on stream last night (9/5/2020) for $100. I changed the favorite !nate command from the joking phrase at his expense, to share a summary of the story mentioned above. The call for help went out.
Anyone who comes to this stream/channel even on a semi regular basis knows I do not post donation/viewership goals. I have a follower goal, because that's free and helps us expand the community and meet new people. With that being said, Mayhem Nation (for lack of official phrase) showed up. I quickly changed the pledge to include "Bit Income" for the month in addition to cash...and then after a 660% + Hype Train, said I would include Sub Income for September. (I will honor this).
What followed was absolutely incredible...remember that $100 goal? We just barely made it...and then you guys beat the snot out of it. Mayhem Nation raised $1050 in JUST ONE NIGHT to go towards Nate's build.
On behalf of Nate and all members, THANK YOU to all who showed up and answered the call. Also to those who even said a kind word about the situation. To those just finding out, if you would like to contribute, I will stand by my word. September income goes to Nate's PC fund. Future upgrades, better/additional monitor, whatever he desires. Thank you for being part of this community, Nate. Honored to call you, and ALL of you, my friends.
Thank you!!
