Hello everyone, this is Aimée!

Scotland might have been the most appropriately dramatic backdrop for A Case of Dragons. You might not be able to run away to the woods to escape reality this summer; but reading Holly’s book will get you close.🌲⛰️🌲

My little retreat included swimming in Lochs, getting a little tipsy on whisky and clambering along cliff faces in the sunshine (not pictured!). Headstrong and adventurous Alara was a fantastic companion for my trip. Though her escape was a little warmer than mine.

Handsome and suave, Xiahndere is freshly back from exile to re-unite with his royal cousins before their coronation. Nobody really knows why their family were banished in the first place, but Xiah is keen to make amends.

💫 The Story Behind Kingdom of the Moon 💫

“Kingdom of the Moon came about because there is one person from my real life that I included in a character who I wanted to give a happy ending to.

I also wanted to set a story in Ocsette, which is a fictional Kingdom my friend Amy and I created all the way back when we were in school.

The characters came about on my bedroom floor, with my friends Erik and Orna, as we ate our weight in Dairy Milk bars and listened to K-Pop while the rain pelted down outside.

Aside from those things, I’ve just always loved magic, mayhem, and a dash of the macabre! I’m a Disney Princess, Labyrinth, and Charmed fan so daring sword fights, magic spells, (and a prince in disguise!) come naturally to me – haha!” — Hayley-Jenifer Brennan, Author

When I first read Hayley-Jenifer’s prologue for Kingdom of the Moon: The Stroke of Midnight, I was blown away. I’m a big fan of literary fiction and experimental writing, and the eccentric atmosphere Hayley-Jenifer creates in her opening chapter is positively ELECTRIC ⚡⚡

The Stroke of Midnight is a tale filled with magical mayhem, and whilst you will get the fluffy narrative style familiar to the cosy fantasy genre, Hayley-Jenifer knows the exact moments to mix things up in a way that packs a punch and leaves you with chills 🙀

KoM Setting Spotlight: 🏰 Oscette Castle and Fae Tower 🏰

Oscette Castle is home to Prince Finn, Princess Hazel and kitchenhand Jinx. The fae tower is hidden from the rest of the Kingdom in the overgrown depths of the forest. The tall, wide turret matches the stone of the castle, but neither can see each other – even from their highest windows. The tower is kept as far away from the Kingdom’s people as possible – much like its occupants, Felix and Astrentia, when they are not on duty.
