مجھے اپنے ضبط پہ ناز تھا سرِ بزم رات یہ کیا ہوا۔۔
میری آنکھ کیسے چھلک گئی مجھے رنج ہے یہ برا ہوا۔۔

میری زندگی کے چراغ کا یہ مزاج کوئی نیا نہیں،
ابھی روشنی ابھی تیرگی، نہ جلا ہوا نہ بجھا ہوا۔۔

مجھے جو بھی دشمنِ جاں ملا، وہی پختہ کار جفا ملا،
نہ کسی کی ضرب غلط پڑی، نہ کسی کا تیر خطا ہوا۔۔

مجھے آپ کیوں نہ سمجھ سکے، یہ خود اپنے دل ہی سے پوچھئے،
میری داستانِ حیات کا تو ورق ورق ہے کھلا ہوا۔۔

جو نظر بچا کے گزر گئے میرے سامنے سے ابھی ابھی،

کہیں خونِ دل سے لکھا ہوا، کہیں آنسوؤں سے مٹا ہوا۔۔

مجھے ہمسفر بھی ملا کوئی، تو شکستہ حال میری طرح،
کئی منزلوں کا تھکا ہوا، کہیں راستے میں لٹا ہوا۔۔

ہمیں اپنے گھر سے چلے ہوئے، سرِ راہ عمر گزر گئی،
