S4E3 was a ✈️trip✈️ to South Africa piloted by UHG Emergency Consultant Dr Jimmy Lee, who took time out of working with MSF in Afghanistan to give us a tour of emergency fellowship in South Africa- in 5th largest hospital in the world 🏨

Painting a picture of the trauma centre in Barra hospital, Dr Lee gave us an insight into its trauma management system, staff, what they face, how to think on your feet and how to assess patients without relying on CT 👀

Full of ups and downs, it showed the benefit of gaining experience in a different landscape and had plenty of tips to apply to our own 😍 A great ep for all, especially those interested in furthering their trauma training abroad!

Having released 4 episodes over the last month, we thought we'd take a short hiatus for January and have a look back at season 4 so far!

Our first episode looked at 3 triathlon associated illnesses and injuries

thecase.report/episodes/a-tri-oww-thalon-of-injuries

Case 1: Gastroenteritis

Our first case is a fairly common presentation to the ED - but do you know the red flags to look out for and when further investigations are needed?

Our Gastroenteritis infographic is a great printable summary of the case.
------------------------
Case 2: Distal ulnar palsy

Our long distance cyclist had altered sensation in his hands, worsening over time.

Small changes can make a big difference in this diagnosis 🚲

🔤The ABCs of DUP🔤
-------------------------
Case 3: Medial tibial stress syndrome

This overuse injury is often exercise induced 🏃
