WOW, where do I begin?! I met Ange in March 2020 after she had already started her fitness journey. One of the things we still laugh about now is that first meeting and a comment Ange made about not wanting to lift weights and me replying with don't worry you will! What do you know...Ange loves lifting weights now and is an absolute weapon at it 🔥
-
After a few of our early sessions Ange told me of her goal, of a heart felt desire to do a brain cancer fundraising walk from Rockhampton to Chris O'Brien Lifehouse in Sydney in the memory of her dear father who passed away from brain cancer and wanted to know if it was possible for her to do so. Of course it was! I had no doubt that if we put in 12 months of hard work, dedication, precise programming making sure Ange was strong, mobile, conditioned and an awesome and efficient walker that she would succeed.

Ange's dedication, desire and and willingness to succeed and not let anything stop her achieve her goal was and still is absolutely inspiring!
-
The first nationwide lock down began only 6 weeks into working together. I had to move back to Sydney where we were completing 2 sessions per week over zoom training from home!
-
When we were finally able to be back in the gym, we were getting some momentum and Ange started to suffer from quite severe pain in the hip and glute region. Learning Ange was suffering from tedonopathy rather than drop her head, Ange dove head first straight into her physiotherapy and rehab, not missing a training session along the way and even throwing in extra sessions in the pool to aid her recovery and performance.

After her recovery and another really solid training block came Ange's first big milestone in December 2020, a marathon walk from Rockhampton to Yeppoon. What a huge success despite extremely unfavourable decisions, smoke in the air and an asthma attach Ange did it!!

New year, new fortune! Surely 2021 was only going to be smooth sailing! 3am wake ups, training sessions, fundraising, work and make sure everything was prepared and ready for her journey! Ange had so much on her plate and was absolutely flying! Only for one final set back only 2 months out from leaving. Ange was hospitalised with a serious lung condition! Just like she had previously she didn't let it discourage her! The first chance I had to speak to her, she told me that she didn't come this far to only come this far and that nothing would be stopping her!

The final hurdle ! After all this a covid outbreak in Sydney resulted in closed boarders to NSW, so plan B. Walk to the boarder and back to cover her desired distance and when the boarders reopen and it's safe walk into Sydney and Chris O'Brien lifehouse!

GUESS WHAT...Despite everyone Ange was right nothing would stop her and she is so close to finishing her journey. Ange is so close to finishing her 1576km journey and I couldn't be prouder! I am so lucky to have been a small part of this huge adventure.

You are an incredible women Ange, you deserve all the success and joy! I cannot wait to see you when you finish this journey!

Di is a small business owner and still works in her business, she loves her group training at her gym and is the absolute light of the room and a ball of happiness when she enters the room. I personally remember the day she told me the advice she was given and it broke my heart! After putting lots of trust in me and consistent effort to get results Di is worlds apart from where she started, walking down stairs pain free, running, walking long distance, adding weight to her movements in the gym! Without taking this leap of faith and allowing her body to improve, adapt and get the results she did through movement and exercise Di's pain would only get worse, her quality of life would continue to decline and she would continue to loose her everyday abilities in day to day life.

Rest has a place in recovery for a short period of time early on. Without movement, rehabilitation and exercise the body will not have a chance to be exposed to stimulus, adapt and improve.

After tailbone surgery, ankle surgery and 8 months away from the sport I love, rugby league and a 15kg weight gain because of this and a sh*tty victim mindset I was in a deep dark hole!
-
The first photo is from early 2019 and the second is from 2020!

The chronic pain I was suffering was effecting my ability to exercise, causing poor sleep, effected my mental health and started to effect relationships with those closest to me!

This personal experience combined with my knowledge from study, working in the fitness industry and with some of the best physiotherapists and exercise physiologists in Australia gives me a unique ability to understand the struggles of individuals at a much more personal level and apply a critical level of thinking and application when it comes to helping others achieve their goals.

Moment 1: 09/03/21 The day after I have full shoulder reconstructive surgery.

Moment 2: 05/06/21 My first game back playing rugby league.

Laying in hospital after my operation, I had no choice but to have a positive mindset towards my recovery. I was telling everyone I would be back playing within 13 weeks, but deep down inside I had no idea whether I would even be able to step out onto the field again this season. I wasn’t the only one that held onto that doubt plenty of people told me I was crazy, told me I’d be lucky to play again this year…
-
Fast forward 13 weeks and thanks to the guidance of an amazing team of physios, doctors, medical staff, coaching staff, my partner, my family and teammates and I achieved what I set out to do.
-
Now this would not have been possible without a clear and deliberate path to recovery, consistent daily effort to do what was required, learning about my body and the difference between pain and discomfort, embracing that discomfort or moving well, moving regularly and getting as strong as I could.

Everyone’s timeline to recovery is different, everyone’s body is different, everyone’s circumstances are different but if done correctly l, precisely and carefully can recover and improve your day to day life. 💚💙
