Its funny. We do the same thing with God and religion. The context expands from classroom to the world, from teaching to living, from knowledge to wisdom, but the format remains the same.

Imagining something so graceful (‘quite student’) and superior instills respect towards duty. No wonder Chesterton blasts modernity for having left it behind, for having the world upside down.

Also Im not surprised Staruss said that. Man was clearer than clear about the subtle fact-value distinction in our minds.

Id like to be one to respect elders. But very often i find only gibberish dogma, self aggrandising fantasies and fallacies under the hood.

No doubt age has edge, but be careful in looking at what that edge is. Age is not a universal edge. By being older, you increase the probability of knowing more, you dont ensure that you know more.

Its not that i am saying youngsters shouldnt respect age or the elderly, but that so often many an elder leaves us with no viable path to respect them. All paths to respecting them are soiled and corrupted by disgrace and shallowness.

By default, kids, respect your elders and respect age. Do not confuse my message for ‘let your elders earn your respect’. No. There is a certain virtue to holding something to be bigger than you. There is certain virtue that only flows towards you in the surrender demanded by respect.
There are certain lessons of time that only an aged and jaded mind can teach you. Trust that you are naive, but never believe you are a fool. Be respectful by default and suspicious on occasion. Your elders may not be the nicest people. Be suspicious of them so you dont inherit their legacy. Be suspicious of them so you can be the type of elder that people want to respect.

Suspend politics and morality for just one second and witness what we are capable of doing for the sake of ideas and stories. We can literally manufacture hell’s fury to reclaim heaven. Im stunned. Almost paralysed in awe. Its probably like being inside Jurrasic Park for the first time. Sheer awe and fear at whats possible.

This is a conversation about drugs that India is at least 30 years behind on having.

I read a lot about psychedelics, the research and politics around it and eventually came to read a book called ‘How to Change your Mind’ by Michael Pollan. I send this book to anyone who is curious enough to digest truth now. This book is going to be a Bible in the next 20 years. People will acquire faith in plant based medicine and mind based solutions of mental illnesses. Heck we might even realise the natural existence of these substances and our god given liberty to engage in them. Just like we have with alcohol and to***co. India wont talk about Ketamine and depression, even though various Indian origin scholars are invested in the research and almost all of the world’s ketamine is produced in India. India isnt willing to talk about cannabis even thought cannabis LITERALLY came from this part of the world (re: G***a because it grew near the Ganges). India wont talk about psychedelia even thought it’s mythological roots are swimming in psychedelic descriptions. Did you know psilocybin mushrooms, often credited for amazing advances in human evolution, grow under the dung of an animal type called BOVIDS. You know what Bovids are? Cows and such. Have you asked yourself why the Cow is holy in even pre agrarian India (vedas out date agrarian india by many centuries).

Im not saying use drugs. Hell no. Be very careful around powers you don’t understand. And I never intend to promote drugs to my young audience. But tell me, does this not make you curious.
