The Hollow Tree
James Brogden
⭐: 4/5
Pros: If you're fascinated with death and what lies after it, you'll be drawn to this book. The chaos and confusion dying can potentially create is personified within these words and will take you on quite the adventure.
As someone who's had many, many experiences with the "others" (that is, deceased souls), THT gave me a different way to see what might be beyond the veil. The others never tell me and I never ask, but I do think it's a bit of what we believe mixed in with some sort of design a tad bit. THAT made my mind wander, no doubt.
It also made me wonder how people who weren't born with the "gift" may "obtain" it during life, such as our MC does. It's all I've ever known, so to think one could just... Develop it after an accident, well, yes. Quite intriguing.
Cons: There is a bit of a go-around. Just when you think resolution has occurred, a new problem happens. In the end, it's not a bad thing and as I've previously stated, it really lends to the idea that death can be a confusing time for the recently departed, respectfully. You just need to hang in there for it.
Conclusion: If you're in the mood for a take of the other side and for all the components aforementioned, I do recommend you read this book. Despite my con, it's well worth your time!
