As more and more of our clients upgrade their old Bose Lifestyle systems to new Sonos systems, owners of Bose Lifestyle 38 and 48 systems always asked if they can connect their old Bose consoles with their stored music to their new Sonos systems. The answer depends on what Sonos device you have. If your Sonos device has an aux input, the answer is yes. To connect your Bose console to the Sonos device, you will need a Boselink to RCA cable and your Bose PMC remote. Bose hasn’t offered these cables in years, but you may find one online. For projects that we install, our installers create the necessary cable. Once you have your cable, connect the end with the din connector to the Boselink output of your Bose console. Then connect the other end with the RCA plugs to the aux input on your Sonos device. Note, this will not work when using a Sonos amplifier that is powering your rear speakers in a home theater set-up. Next set-your Bose PMC remote room code to “O”. To play your stored music, use the Bose PMC remote to select Store Music and make choose your music. On the Sonos app, choose the device with Bose console and then tap “Aux”. You can then share the stored music with the other Sonos devices in your system. Use the Sonos app to control the volume of the stored music, the Bose remote will not control the volume.
