Pursuing Saudade Travel We are Miguel and Ashton, two travellers from Portugal who love to explore the world and share their adventures.

Saudade (origin: Portuguese): With no direct translation in English, "saudade" beautifully describes the emotional state of nostalgia and longing for something distant that has been loved and then lost. We aim to inspire fellow globetrotters and cover essential information on the locations we visit to help you better prepare for your next destination. Our videos are focused on authentic travel exp

eriences, with a splash of history. We want to provide tips, and trivia and embrace the location's full beauty in a documentary fashion. On our trips, we cover topics such as food - what the destination is known for, and some of the spots and dishes we experienced. Share our experiences about the transportation to and around the location we visit. And of course, our daily experience with attractions, cultural landmarks and general atmosphere of some of the world's most sought-after and also lesser-known destinations. This is just the beginning, and we are extremely excited to have you follow us along this journey. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok: •

Earlier this year we had the privilege to visit the fascinating traditional Berber villages of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. This was, without a doubt, the absolute highlight of our time in Marrakesh.

We are deeply saddened by the horrific devastation the recent earthquake has left on the region and we are praying for strength for all of those who have been affected by this tragedy x

A former Imperial City, Marrakesh (Arabic: مراكش, Berber: ⴰⵎⵓⵔⴰⴽⵓⵛ) is the Kingdom of Morocco’s 4th largest city and one of Africa’s busiest.

Its ancient Medina and the labyrinth of souks, a kaleidoscope of colours and fusion of oriental aromas, the ochre city of Marrakesh is truly a beautifully chaotic treat for the senses.

One of the oldest cities in in Europe, Portugal’s second city is far from second best; Porto is truly in a league of its own.

Nestled along the Douro River, this historic city is a sought after destination for history, culture and wine enthusiasts.
Port wine, the famous rich and typically sweet dessert wine, originates from this region and while there are other port-styles fortified wines produced globally, one wines from Portugal are allowed to be labelled as “ports”.

Any trip to Portugal’s southern coast should always include a visit to the quiet, slower-paced town of Tavira.

Roughly 40km from the Spanish boarder, Tavira is one of the Algarve’s most charming towns. With its medieval castle, the church of Santa Maria do Castelo housing the final resting places of knights who were defeated by the Moors, a bridge dating back to the 17th century and a traditional Portuguese charm and architecture, this small town packs a powerful punch.

Easily one of the most recognisable locations in Denmark, you would be denying yourself a true pleasure by not following the crowds and allowing yourself to be mesmerised by Nyhavn’s charm.

Meaning “New Harbour”, Nyhavn’s canal is flanked by colourful 17th century townhouses, trendy restaurants and bars, and harbours many historical wooden ships.

Constructed in the 1670’s by King Christian V, the harbour served as a commercial port where it developed a notorious reputation
for sailors seeking alehouses and ladies of pleasure.
In time, the area would be revitalised as its maritime importance grew. Today, it’s loved by tourists and locals alike as a thriving and sophisticated entertainment district.

A global capital of fashion and design, Milan’s presence in the lucrative industry is one to be rivalled.

Luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Versace can all be found at the famous shopping arcade, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in the heart of the city.

Have you visited this thriving metropolis?

It's easy to feel rushed and with a tight agenda during a leisure trip. I find the ability to slow down, take in the sights and appreciate the moment is one of the most important parts of the experience. Looking back at some of our favourite trips, it's these quiet moments that we value the most.

Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam, present-day Thailand.

From 1350 to 1767, Ayutthaya flourished. An important centre of global diplomacy and commerce, and one of the world’s largest & most urban cosmopolitan areas.

When the city was attacked 1767 by the Burmese, the citizens were forced to flee.
The city was never rebuilt and what is left today are the ruins of its former glory and magnificence.

Wherever I go I try to bring along my itch for photography. Saving memories from our favorite places is always a must, but its through portraits that we can really see the emotions we were experiencing at that time. The joy, the euphoria, the cold, and how simple things can bring to us child like wonder once again.

Are you going to a Christmas market this year? ❄️☃️

In good European fashion, Christmas markets beautifully represent the joy of the season. It's always cold, sometimes snowing, and people gather and stroll along the streets and shop local goods surrounded by the smell of food, sweets and glühwein.

What are your favourite Christmas market experiences?

Bangkok: doing what she does best…
The charismatic and organised chaos that the City of Angels is so well known for.

It can be whatever truth YOU want it to be. The city is colossal and there are plenty of gems that fits every travel preference. Whether your focus is culture, food, entertainment (or all of the above!)… Bangkok has it all.

One of the most wholesome experiences you can have in Chiang Mai? Having a conversation with a young Buddhist monk.

At the beautiful Wat Chedi Luang in the city’s historic centre, guests have the opportunity to sit down and casually engage with these young men who are pursuing a sacred and religious journey.
This is also a great chance for them to sharpen their English skills while enthusiastically sharing their life with you.

This young, enthusiastic monk-to-be, Bang, is 19 years old. When he reaches 20, he will have the choice to become a full fledged monk or restart a civilian lifestyle. While he studies, he has around 10 rules that he must uphold… when he turns 20, those rules jump to a staggering +200!

This was an incredible experience and it is highly recommended.
While the monks are happy to laugh and share stories with you, please remember that they take their dedication very seriously and we must avoid physical contact (especially women).

Hi! We are Miguel & Ashton, a Portuguese / South African duo from the Algarve who are at their happiest when they have their boarding passes and cameras in hand. The never-ending need to explore foreign lands is an itch that never truly goes away.

For us, travelling is so much more than simply ticking off the "been there, done that" list. Rubbing shoulders with the local culture, savouring its delectable cuisine and being taken back in time to another age and experiencing it through a modern perspective... that's when our dream becomes a reality.
Our aim is to help guide you through all the essentials of a location. From navigating the transportation system, to historical & cultural points of interest, the culinary scene and ultimately finish with an honest opinion of the experience. Unfiltered and raw. From here, you will have a better understanding if that location should be your next destination.

We hope that our insider tips and cultural adventures trigger your inner sense of "saudade" and inspires you to take your next adventure! 🇵🇹🇿🇦
