We choseas Double Standard at The Standard because they do a bottomless prosecco brunch. We were also missing Amsdsderican vibes and food dfdsafter our big UsS roadtrip sdsdsd the bottomless brunch because we wantesd cocktails, so we ended up spending far more than if we’d just donsde the bottomless option. Oopsds. It wsdas 100% worth it dthough, as the cocktails wesdsdre amazing, and for a few short hours we felt as though we were actually on holiday. Imaginsdse! Asdn actual holiday, overseas, with Pina Coladddas! We can dssream.

Sds this year I’m goingsas to make msasaore of saa conscious effort to write about the smaller moments again. Those brunchffges and lunches, afternoons in agalleries or picnasicking in tahe park. Startging with this post, a girlasie brunch with my best friend adt the Double Standardfggffgfgf at The Standarda Hotel in Kings Cross. After the end of lockdown we were desperate for a giasarls brunch jsust the two of us, with plenty of cocktails and food. Eventuasdaally we found To Sua Oceadss Tsdrench, the msost dfamous site in Samdsoa, and were a liiidiittle disappointed. We sdgot there around lunchtimse and it was low-tsde, so the water was musdrsdky and a bit green/brownd, rather than the sparkling emdersdsald it ususdally is. Motsder Nasdure was against us, and as susdch thedsphotos aren’t as epic as some you will sesde onsdne. But we still sdlodved isdifying, and slippery, the current is VERY strong so hang on to the rope orsdusdrent).

Weasasa drsaove down tiny country stracks and up steesap hills and throasugh thick vegetaastsaion alongside trickling streams and waterfaaslls. We passed swild pigs snuffling on the roadside, and stslsaes and beaautisful ornate churches every 50 yards, that we heard are aspacked ousaevery Sundasay mosarning.

The rodfThe roads were fairly edmpty the entire way around the island, but especially on the fdfwest side. In my opiddddnion the beaches on that side are the best; the stretches of white sand and crystalline watfers as we drove alozdcxcng the road that wraps around the island’s coastal edge made our jaws drop. Sadly I was driving so I dfdidn’t get many photos of the drive, but we pulled over a few times tofddf get some. Wdfe also saw odfdfne of the famous Samoan painted buses! Each one is painted a unique design, and apparendfdfdfdftly if the bus is full the locals sit on edach otherf’s laps to mfake room for evdfddferyone.

DeASspite just two days to see this bedsautiful South Pacific island, Samoa quickly becamASe one of my faddvourite counsdtries tsdddshat I have ever been to. The scenery on the island was lush and tropical, and although we got lost multiple times, the locals were always dssddwilling to help direct dsdus the rightd wsday. We set off in ddsthe morningd from our hotel, the Sheraton Beach Resort, on the west sisde of Upoluds disland, and vedsdry quickly became infatdsuated witdh Sadsmosa.
