Nice little interview today on Linkedin Live about the launch of our new book, the creation process, and intentional model for selling and distribution.
You wonder why we're not selling via Amazon and other bookstores?
The whole premise of the book is about NOT building your business on rented land. Two hundred thousand YouTube subscribers are useless to you if YouTube shuts down your account. One million TikTok followers mean nothing if the app gets banned in your country. You spent all that time building a following, but ultimately you have no idea who those people were or how to get in touch with them. (Unless you were smartly getting them onto your email list.)
Similarly.... a million book sales via Amazon and other stores would get the book "out there" but we would have no information about who bought it or how to contact them again.
Since we aren't after money or fame (all proceeds go to charity), it's much better to sell 10,000 copies, but acquire 10,000 email addresses in the process.
A bold move. A grand experiment. We'll see how it goes - as one of the first books published by the new Tilt Publishing (which is poised to help Content Entrepreneurs get their non-fiction books out there, direct-to-consumer).

Wherever you are creating and promoting your content, it NEEDS to be pointing people to your email list.
