This memory takes me back to 20th August 2020. A moment frozen in time. I was travelling from Dibrugarh to my hometown, and on the way, we took a short halt at Lakhimpur bypass. There, on a quiet wall, our very talented had painted a beautiful portrait of Zubeen da, full of life, soul, and colours.

Standing in front of that wall, I remember how my friend and I couldn’t resist starting an impromptu jam session. We sang “Mayabini”, one of those songs that touches something deep inside. That day, as our voices blended with the evening air, we felt complete. Connected to something pure, something bigger than ourselves.

But today, things feel different. There is no more Zubeen da with us in person… and his Mayabini has now turned into a prayer. Back then, it was a song we all love. Today, it carries the weight of love, memory, and loss.

Even so, the song still lives on in our hearts always and forever. Because every time we sing Mayabini, we feel him with us again. Smiling, free, and eternal. 💫
