Fun times yesterday at OtleyBeerFestival, many nice beers and ciders were tried and chatted to some really nice people. Really enjoyed the music of Bad Dad Band, rocking out the guitar, ukulele, cajon and egg shaker and all deinking was done in the name of charity! Winner winner! Definitely one to check out next year.

Was up for a bit of Noise In The Valley Festival yesterday at Sowerby Bridge, an awesome, free event held between a range of live music venues. Due to my band playing, getting great pizza after and going relatively early I only caught one other band: the awesome, grungy goo at The Blind Pig. Great set enjoyed by a capacity crowd in a lovely venue! Great work to all the organisers and volunteers yesterday. An excellently conceived event, something similar could work in other locations with nearby live music venues working together over a day to make something bigger!

So, Nice As Pie Race was a wonderful day and a night, great seeing so many good bands and hanging out with great people....

So, Nice As Pie Race was a wonderful day and a night, great seeing so many good bands and hanging out with great people. Here’s some pics of: Filthy Militia, Sadaxe, Dakka Sk**ks, Snakes Among Us, Animal Byproducts, Rupcha Farms, Follow Your Dreams, The Sewer Cats, The Pie Race (top win by Alex bringing the golden pie home to BD!) Plot 32, Brigantes, bigfatbig, Native James, Goodbye Blue Monday, Electric Press and Mxdxnxa. Sorry to the 5 bands I missed, just back off holiday! Nice one to the organisers. Called into The Fox in Shipley after a Sunday walk and we were treated to some live music from Connor Walmsley. Very on point guitar and acoustic music, keen to take requests, but especially interesting beatboxing and loop work made this a special performance. Really nice guy to chat to and with multiple talents!

Made a poster for a Christmas gig my band’s playing for a good cause: Otley Food Bank. The framed original painting will be in the raffle, 3 good bands, craft bits for present buying on merch and lots of fun, capacity of 50 people for this and we’re playing two new original xmas songs so it’d be great to see lots of good folk there at the Otley Christmas Fandango!

Great time at Leeds Zine Fair yesterday! Massive thanks to Footprint Workers Co-op for organising. Lovely to hang out with creatives and interview some for Superbeast Podcast.

Out at The Key Club last night for some tunes. Very low light venue to draw in so these are not my best work (!) but sketched the wonderful Kymara from Brighton via The Netherlands; great energy and soulful approach to song writing, and the awesome Bedouin Soundclash; who are just a wonderful band and geat people rocking the heavy bassed melodic tunes. I’ve bagged new album / EPs from both and Charlotte made a vid for her mate with the singer after telling him the 2005 album was her freedom album that is constantly in her car — always a great complement for any album! Enjoy the rest of your tour! Great seeing Gaz and some brass from Plot 32 + Jason Stirling there as well! 😊

Had a night in The Green Dragon, Hardraw last night. The back room where we had our wedding reception has been converted into a gig room and we caught Friday Street from Scarborough there playing some rock classics. They’re a very talented lot. Also, grateful to have a great meal, hang around by the fire (where I drew Sam the dog) chat to locals, budding sports stars behind the bar and guests in a friendly pub in a beautiful part of the world.

Out gigging last night at Retro Bar for Mike & Marc’s joint birthday gig. VERY SPECIAL GIG - MxDxNxA / Sadaxe / Speed Dinosaurs . Not great light for drawing but sketched the crowd and Sadaxe and Mxdxnxa in what was a great fun night! Nice catching up with friends to good music and some fun covers by all bands!

Awesome gig by Calder Valley Hunt Saboteurs at The 1 in 12 Club Bradford, plenty of good bands and lots of fun, music, raffle raising over a grand for sabbing hunts and saving badgers. Great on you Rubber Husband, Terrorpins, Class Tourists, GEVÄL, S*x Germs & Bruise Control, didn’t get there in time for the first band.

Sketching Den Miller’s album launch at BACCApipes Folk Club Keighley last night. A wonderfully entertaining evening of intelligent funny and thought-provoking songs as Den launches his seveth album Bless the Rains, expertly supported by Skinner & T'witch. Also very cool to be at album launch where the headline has broken his finger playing football so has had to reinterpret many of his own songs on different instruments. Best with the rest of the tour, defo pick up a copy of the album which is also online. Awesome work and singing from the Bacca Pipes!
