I’m going to cover 3 mistakes that entrepreneurs do with social media marketing and how to avoid them :)
1) Most companies or freelancers fail at providing VALUABLE CONTENT. Too many business owners still think of social media as a billboard. To get noticed and engaged with your preferable audience, you must post a content that adds value for your reader.
Social media mainly is not the place for hard selling (yes, it can work with paid ads like Facebook & IG). Instead, show your expertise by sharing content that helps your potential customers to solve their problems.
It is very hard to sell something when people are not ready. So you need to be the top choice when they will think about that type of service.
When somebody talks about clothes or phones, the brand that you love comes to your mind. You must be such a brand: when somebody talks about that type of service or product you provide, they should immediately remember YOU!
2) People are looking to the social media as a short term game. Many companies or freelancers spend too less efforts and expect very fast results.
You have to dedicate your time or hire somebody who will work daily accordingly to your strategy you planned. It's like a long trip where you need to plan how many days you will be on the road, where are you going to stop for a sleep, how much money are you going to spend and what type of clothes are you planning to take with you. If you don't set the direction for your trip and don't plan small but very important things - it will be hard to take the first step and start moving forward because you don't know WHERE YOU HAVE TO MOVE.
DAILY PLANNED LONG-TERM ACTIONS WILL BRING THE RESULTS YOU WANT!
3) The 3rd very practical advice that you could adapt TODAY is to be responsive and interact with people on the comments sections they write below your post.
Personal contact is more powerful than social media interaction. It is a fact. But IF we as a brand will show a good sense of humor, our willingness to help people and positive attitude interacting with prospects, we will be so much attractive than POSTING very very smart and informative messages without any further communication with our potential customers.
