LUNA LAPIS specialises in sourcing ethical and sustainable crystals and turns them into meaningful pieces of jewellery.

It was founded by Lauren in 2017 as a passion project that grew over lockdown into a fully-fledged business! She uses high quality, demi-fine materials with collections in Sterling Silver, 14K Gold-filled, and 18K Gold Vermeil, so you can treasure your crystal jewellery for many years to come.

The main concept behind her jewellery collection is ‘minimal with meaning’. By keeping the designs minimal, this allows the unique beauty of the crystal to catch your eye and fully shine on its own. The meanings and properties associated with each crystal means you can choose and wear a crystal that has a special meaning to you, such as Zodiac crystals!

At the start of her crystal journey, and after learning that that not all crystals are ethical, Lauren made it her mission to source ethical and sustainable crystals and is proud to only use these in her collections. LUNA LAPIS continuously strives to have a minimal impact on the planet with sustainable packaging and practices, whilst also being an advocate towards ethical trading standards for the people in the crystal industry.

Episode 138 is with Ceramics by Christina 🩷

Ceramics by Christina was started during lockdown in March 2020 with Christina’s first product - ‘The year we stayed at home 2020’ porcelain houses.

Christina’s pottery has evolved from solely hanging decorations to include a variety of products including baubles, greetings cards and miniature porcelain picture frames. Each greeting card and picture contains tiny hand cut and glazed porcelain pieces - Christina fires hundreds (maybe thousands) of these in each kiln firing. Christina is also experimenting with slip casting baubles in a mixture of shapes including houses, stars, trees and hearts.

Episode 136 is with Gillybean pottery 🩵

Gillian has loved pottery ever since childhood. She dipped in and out as a hobby potter for many years until children and career meant there was little time for pottery.

Gillian finally returned to clay in 2018. This time she was truly hooked! When the covid pandemic arrived and shared studio space was no longer a possibility, Gillian took the plunge and bought her first potter’s wheel. With limited space, Gillian used her wheel only in the garden for many sunny months. Eventually it was necessary to move operations indoors and so a garden office room was turned into a pottery studio and Gillybean Pottery was born!

Since then, Gillian has worked almost obsessively to perfect her thrown forms and develop new ranges.

Wheel thrown and hand finished, Gillian uses vibrant colours, layering and hand painting surfaces to create eye catching pieces which include tableware, planters and vases. It really matters to Gillian that her pieces bring a little fun and delight to people’s homes. She makes sure that all her pottery can be used (and abused) every day by carefully selecting strong durable materials and techniques.

Episode 135 is with the fab Forest House Wood Design 🪵

Forest House Wood Design was created in 2020 during lockdown, when we decided to put some of our dads creations online. Our dad, Michael has over forty years experience in wood work and can be found working away in his workshop at the foot of Slieve Gullion.

We make a wide range of handcrafted wooden products including serving boards, cake stands, bathboards and garden furniture. Dad also does some bespoke work such as kitchens or bedroom furniture.

We pride ourselves on using reclaimed wood as much as possible, with no two pieces ever being the same.

Eithne (pronounced Enya) is a landscape artist from Belfast. Eithne works from a home studio to create her paintings. She primarily paints with oil paints to create her dream-like landscapes.

Her aim is to evoke fond memories and escapism for the viewer. Her work is highly textured due to her impasto technique and her colour palette is vibrant.

What started as an obsession with mastering the ultimate fudge recipe has grown into a little empire run out of my kitchen.

Episode 127 is with the amazing Sarah Elizabeth Jewellery 💎

For as long as I can remember, I have been attracted to everything and anything that sparkled. So, naturally I took my mothers engagement ring and squished in a door frame so it 'fit' around my finger... it never fit. Maybe becoming a jeweller was a way for me to overcome the guilt I had.

I started to see jewellery in a whole new light when my grandparents gave me some of their own pieces of jewellery. I was amazed by the history these necklaces, rings and brooches could hold, and even more so how personally attached I felt towards them. It didn't matter to me if they were broken or had stones missing, I always found a way to wear everything!

When I finally got the opportunity to go to university and learn about how jewellery was created, I became obsessed. From then I've developed in technical skill and artistry. The inspiration of my work is usually quite personal. Jewellery, to me, has always been about connection so I think it important that my work reflects that in some way. In that same way, I want every piece I make to become a precious heirloom for my customers to enjoy and pass down for generations.
