What’s next for Afghanistan? Join the online conference October 1st.
The war, over a period of twenty years, has officially cost the lives of 240,000 people, many of them civilians, destroying entire villages and forcing the population to flee.
Several million Afghans are refugees in Pakistan, Iran and Turkey.
At the same time, the collapse of all the world’s stock markets has aggravated a creeping recession, which had already caused millions of job losses. The surge in oil prices, the meteoric rise in gold prices… again, the significance of this turning point in world history cannot be properly assessed at this stage. But no one can doubt that this new situation increases the threats that weigh on the situation of the workers and peoples of the whole world (…). At this turning point in the world situation, independent workers’ political action is the only way to defend the achievements of civilization, which are inseparable from democracy and peace.
