China is considering building a 12 billion dollar tunnel to the island of Hainan. In the south of China, the island of Hainan is separated from the mainland by the thin, 20 kilometer wide Qiongzhou strait. The island hosts 10 million people and a booming tourism industry. Despite this, currently, there are no connections across it. For this reason, the idea of building a tunnel across the strait is being seriously pursued. A tunnel would increase tourism on the island, remove transport congestion, and provide China with a strategic advantage in the South China Sea. However, the idea also has several issues, including environmental damage, cost concerns and earthquakes. Nevertheless, Wu Shicun and other Chinese officials are promoting the project and trying to get it built by 2033.

Saudi Arabia is about to construct a brand new, 200 billion dollar city in the desert. Since 2017, the country has been planning NEOM, a new $500 billion city near Egypt and Jordan. In January, 2021, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the project’s first phase, called The Line. The Line will be a 170 kilometer long band of cities with a high tech urban design. It will potentially host one million people and serve as a trade hub, tourist destination, and technology center.

Mars can be terraformed into an Earth-like paradise. By reestablishing a magnetic field to protect Mars, thickening the atmosphere, removing perchlorates from the soil, creating an ozone layer, and adjusting the atmosphere, we can terraform the red planet into a habitable paradise. A terraformed Mars would still be very different from Earth. The days and years would be longer, the gravity would be lower, and the climate would be much different. While terraforming Mars is possible, it would likely take hundreds or even thousands of years and would require technology and megaprojects beyond humanity’s current capabilities.

It will make cheaper, higher quality and further range vehicles, including a potential $25,000 car. It will also expand internationally, establishing gigafactories around the planet. Furthermore, it will begin production on new electric vehicle models, including the Cybertruck, the Tesla-semi, and the new Tesla Roadster. While it improves its electric vehicles, it will also expand its green energy business, potentially becoming a solar power and energy storage supercompany. Lastly, fueled by Elon Musk’s imagination, it will expand its product line into all sorts of unique products.

Brazil is potentially growing into a global superpower. Over the past two decades, Brazil’s economy has grown rapidly. Despite a recent slump, it is projected to boom in the coming decades, becoming the fourth largest economy in the world by 2050. Meanwhile, Brazil’s population will slowly grow, before peaking in 2043. In addition, Brazil’s political influence and military will expand. Brazil is already the regional power of South America, with the 9th strongest military in the world. However, it is now spreading its political influence across the world and growing its military. Moreover, Brazil’s cultural and economic influences are growing through tourism and its MNC’s. By 2050, Brazil is projected to be a global superpower, with a robust economy, a powerful military and expansive cultural/political influence.

The megaproject also includes a new international airport and a massive dam across the Gulf of Khambhat. By its planned completion in 2042, Dholera will stand as a marvel.

Russia and China are considering building a 100 billion dollar tunnel across the Bering Strait, providing the first physical link between Asia and North America. The idea for a Bering Strait bridge or tunnel has existed for a while. Recently though, Russia and China have proposed modern tunnels across the strait. These tunnels would have major benefits. They would improve intercontinental trade, cooperation and serve as feats of engineering. Unfortunately though, due to the current infrastructure and geographic conditions, they would be very expensive and difficult to construct.

Croatia is building a $500 million USD bridge linking its territories, that will potentially block Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Mediterranean Sea. To prevent Bosnia and Herzegovina from being landlocked, it owns a small strip of land along the Adriatic Sea. However, this land splits Croatia, causing border check logistics issues. To solve this problem, Croatia is building a bridge around Bosnia, called the Peljesac bridge. This bridge could increase connectivity between north and southern Croatia, improve tourism, and boost economic growth. However, it could also destroy Bosnia’s hopes of building a major port, causing political issues. 'sbridge

It is now the second most populous country in the world with the third largest economy by PPP. It also has the fourth strongest military in the world. In the future, India will pass China as the most populous country in the world and will pass the US as the second largest economy. Meanwhile, it’s military will expand while its cultural and political influences grow, putting India into an influential global leadership position.

Nigeria is constructing a $6 billion dollar city in the Atlantic ocean, called Eko Atlantic. Lagos, the financial and economic capital of Nigeria, is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. To grow successfully, Lagos must attract investors. However, currently, the city is very undeveloped and is threatened by rising sea levels. To help with this, Nigerian developers are building a $6 Billion dollar city on reclaimed land off the coast of Lagos, called Eko Atlantic. Eko Atlantic will host many districts with marinas, skyscrapers, and the largest mall in West Africa. Since construction started in 2007, the city has advanced significantly. In the coming years, it will rise from the sea, potentially becoming a global economic hub.

Norway is building a $47 billion dollar highway along its western coast, which will include floating bridges and underwater tunnels stretching across the region’s immense fjords. Norway’s western coast, which hosts several key cities, is currently connected by the E39 highway. However, it is split apart by seven major fjords, which increase travel time and costs. To solve this inefficiency, Norway is building a brand new, continuous highway across the fjords. It will include floating bridges and submerged tunnels, serving as a feat of engineering. The project is planned to be finished by 2050 and will be paid by toll revenue. Once complete, it will dramatically improve connectivity in Norway, boosting the economy and tourism.
