Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a multidisciplinary field that involves building intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and natural language processing. AI research and development involve various areas such as computer science, mathematics, psychology, linguistics, and philosophy.
The core idea behind AI is to create intelligent machines that can reason, learn, and solve problems like humans. AI technology is evolving rapidly, and its impact can be felt in various domains, ranging from healthcare to finance to entertainment.
AI is divided into two main categories: Narrow AI and General AI. Narrow AI, also known as weak AI, is designed to perform a specific task, and its performance is limited to that particular area. Examples of narrow AI include spam filters, voice assistants, and self-driving cars. In contrast, General AI, also known as strong AI or AGI, aims to create machines with human-like intelligence that can perform any intellectual task a human being can do.
AI has the potential to bring transformative changes to our society, but it also raises ethical and societal concerns. Addressing the ethical challenges posed by AI is crucial in ensuring its responsible and safe use in the future.
