We couldn’t start the day without wishing Maj. John “Lucky” Luckadoo a very happy 102nd birthday!

A WWII pilot with the 100th Bomb Group, Lucky flew 25 combat missions in Nazi-occupied Europe in a B-17 Flying Fortress, acting as pilot and co-pilot in near-impossible circumstances between June and October of 1943 (the average bomber crew flew 8-12 missions).
The 100th Bomb Group earned the nickname the Bloody Hundredth from its severe casualty rate. Around 77 percent of its original members were wounded, killed, or captured.
Today Lucky continues to tell and share his story and educates and advocates for those back home on the homefront, who he gives tremendous credit for helping win the war. Even creating, Home Front Heroes Day that is now nationally recognized, and celebrated on May 9, in honor of the countless number of civilians, the Rosie Riveters of the world, who helped the U.S. win WWII.

Updated! 😅
Hello all our friends, fans and supporters. It's with sad hearts to let you all know that The Swing Sisters Show will be on a hiatus. For how long, we do not know. Maybe a month, maybe a few...but you will hear from us again! Life has a way of throwing a hurdle or two in for everyone at various and sometimes inconvenient times and that is where we are currently finding ourselves. Though we are on a hiatus, we still may pop on here and there (and perhaps update you with personal endeavors and projects!).
In the meantime, keep smiling, keep "swingin" and should you want to follow us on our individual accounts, you can find Erin on IG at and Jamie at .victoryvee
Thank you for being the best supporters that 2 tomatoes could have asked for. 💋💋

Yesterday, not only were we able to be in the presence of amazing jewelry worn by elite old Hollywood stars and starlettes but we were also able to meet and talk to Kristin Joseff from the one and only Joseff of Hollywood!
She was so kind and patient as we stumbled over our words (if you can believe that!) and gushed about our absolute love of the era and the golden days of Hollywood.
But as if that wasn’t amazing enough, she surprised us by allowing us to wear the actual brooches worn on the headbands of Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in “Some Like It Hot”!
We were speechless! It’s a day we are sure to never forget!
Of course we couldn’t end such a memorable day empty handed! Matching Joseff of Hollywood cat earrings were in order! 😸

🇺🇲WWII uncovered: George Walters the Civilian Hero of Pearl Harbor

"One of the many civilians to win accolades during the Pearl Harbor attack, George Walters was a dockyard worker who manned a massive rolling crane positioned alongside the dry-docked battleship USS Pennsylvania. When the yard came under fire during the early stages of the raid, he valiantly moved his crane back and forth on its track, effectively shielding Pennsylvania from low flying dive-bombers and fighters. Walters even tried to use the crane’s boom to swat the enemy planes out of the sky."

"The gunners on Pennsylvania initially considered the dockworker a nuisance, but they soon realized that his 50-foot-high cab gave him an excellent view of incoming aircraft. Using the movements of the crane arm as a guide, they were able to return fire against the enemy to devastating effect. Walters continued his suicidal maneuvers until a Japanese bomb exploded on the dock and sent him to the hospital with a concussion. His actions may have helped save Pennsylvania from destruction, but his story went largely untold until 1957, when it appeared in author Walter Lord’s famous book "Day of Infamy."

Walters himself became a target of the Japanese when a 500 lb bomb was dropped on his position. He shifted the crane’s position just in time to avoid a direct hit, although he was knocked unconscious by the explosion.

George Walters ultimately recovered from the attack and continued working at Pearl Harbor for another 25 years. He passed away at the age of 95 in March, 1999. While the story of this civilian Pearl Harbor Hero isn’t as well-known as others like Doris Miller and Joe George, his actions on the morning of December 7, 1941 doubtless saved many lives.

Pictured below: USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) in dry dock. George Walters operated the crane on the right. Also pictured is George Walters' son Lewis who was also working on the docs on December 7, 1941.
