TOBAGO COURIER TELLS HOW HE GOT COVID 19

Report by Guardian Media:

A man employed with a courier service in Tobago, who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, says his family is now anxious as to their health situation, following the news.

Speaking with Guardian Media, the man—who is in his early 30s and a resident of Scarborough—said he contracted COVID-19 from a female relative who was tested earlier last week for the coronavirus.

According to the man, his relative, who is in her 60s, went to Trinidad in the first week of August and came back to Tobago feeling unwell. She was admitted into the COVID-19 Unit located next to the old Scarborough General Hospital.

The male patient told Guardian Media he started feeling unwell and was tested last week. He said the results came back on Saturday and at the time of his interview with Guardian Media, he was awaiting officials from the Ministry of Health to take him away to the Unit.

The man said several of his relatives also have been tested for the disease and were understandably worried about their own results.

The man said in his job as a courier, he would have come into contact with scores of people. However, he said that at all times, he practised social distancing, wore a mask and sanitised before and after dealing with members of the public.
