William Kamkwamba is the African hero who saved his dying village with a windmill made of spare parts and scrap. His ingenuity and resourcefulness inspired the Netflix movie ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’ and a book of the same name. Born in rural Malawi, William taught himself how to generate electricity from wind at the age of 14, bringing power to his community and saving many lives.

His windmill provided enough energy to power lights and irrigate crops, becoming a symbol of hope for his village. William is now a global advocate for renewable energy, a Dartmouth College graduate, and a TIME magazine "30 People Under 30 Changing The World" awardee. He is a true example of African talent and resilience

12 Years A Slave and Black Panther star Lupita Nyong'o helped 600 kids from her hometown in Kenya to see the hit movie "Black Panther". Unfortunately, not everyone that was excited about the movie could afford to see it at the time of its release.

Then Frederick Joseph started the Black Panther Challenge to encourage people to donate to the less privileged children. For young kids, Black Panther is important as it gives them heroes and role models to look up to—from the wise T'Challa to the genius Shuri to the benevolent Nakia.
