British police have arrested a Nigerian couple, one of whom is a former Senate politician, on suspicion of plotting to bring a child from Nigeria to the UK for organ harvesting. Metropolitan police said that Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu and Ike Ekweremadu, who are 55 and 60 years old respectively, were arrested and will appear in a UK court today .

The police didn't disclose the age or gender of the child and the location of the arrest. Organ harvesting involves removing parts of the body, often for cash and against the victim's will. In 2017, a former Nigerian government minister claimed that migrants from his country were having their organs taken after being sold into slavery. What steps should be taken by various governments take to stop organ harvesting trade?

President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria will be more secure and prosperous at the end of his second and final term in 2023 than when he took over in 2015. His comments came is despite worsening unemployment, an increase in school abductions, and train hijackings across the country.

President Buhari says his administration has solved the decades-old conflict between cattle herders and farmers through the National Livestock Transformation Plan, which established ranches and demarcates grazing zones. Is Nigeria in a better condition than in 2015?

Leaders of East African Community member states are meeting later today to discuss the security situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The meeting takes place as heavy fighting in the east of DR Congo stirs up decades-old animosities, with the DRC blaming Rwanda for the recent resurgence of the M23 rebel group.

Rwanda has denied supporting the rebels on multiple occasions. DRC President Felix Tshisekedi has accused Rwanda of wanting to profit from his country's gold and other minerals. The mineral-rich DRC is battling dozens of armed groups in the country's east, many of which are the result of two regional wars a quarter-century ago. Do you think that such meetings are useful, or the two countries concerned should be allowed to handle their own issues?

Belgium will today hand over the remains of assassinated Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba to his family, some 60 years after his death. Lumumba, the first prime minister of an independent DR Congo, was executed only a few months after being voted in.

His body was hacked up and his remains dissolved in acid. A Belgium policeman, who had overseen the destruction of Lumumba's body, later revealed he has taken a tooth from Lumumba as a souvenir. Lumumba's family and Congolese authorities are in Belgium for the event.

The tooth will be placed in a box before being placed in a casket and flown to DRC for burial. The handover of the tooth is seen as one step towards reconciliation between DR Congo and Belgium, its former colonizer. Is Belgium doing enough?

An attack in Ethiopia has left at least 260 civilians dead in the country's Oromia region. Witnesses are blaming a rebel group, Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), for the attack that targeted ethnic Amhara.

The OLA denies being involved in the attack, which took place over the weekend. Speaking to Reuters news agency, two residents gave detailed accounts of how they helped bury corpses in mass graves.

Ethnic tensions political and historical grievances are currently flaring in Ethiopia, home to more than 80 different ethnic groups. The Amhara are the country's second-largest ethnic group and have frequently been targeted in attacks in regions like Oromia. What could be the solution to ending Ethiopia's never-ending ethnic clashes?

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called Africa "a hostage" of Russia's war during an address to the African Union leaders on Monday.
The invasion and blockade of Ukraine's agricultural exports by Russia have resulted in grain and fertiliser shortages, placing millions of people at risk of hunger.
Moscow rejects accusations it is deliberately blocking grain exports from Ukraine and says global food and fuel price hikes are due to Western sanctions imposed on Russia over the Feb. 24 invasion, which it calls a "special military operation". Do you agree with President Zelensky that Africa is " a hostage" of Russia's war?
