Oh, cruel fate, that doth decree
My heart shall pine, my soul shall bleed
For thou, my love, who cannot be
But still within my heart take heed.
Thy words did cut, they stung so deep
And yet, my love, I cannot sleep
For thoughts of thee, they do not cease
My heart, it yearns, it does not ease.
I cannot keep thee from my mind
Thy voice, it echoes, unconfined
And though I try to turn away
My heart, it calls for thee to stay.
Oh, how I wish I had the power
To banish thee from this dark hour
But love, it is a fickle thing
