To women who refuse to bow to regressive societal norms, may you continue being resilient.
To women who smile and celebrate their wins, may you continue inspiring others.
To women who changed their lives when no one else thought they could, may you never have to prove your worth to anyone.
To women who can, women who do, and women who will, may you all rise and continue rising.
Happy International Women's day❤

People expect others to treat them a certain way throughout their lives. It is certainly nice to be valued and prioritized by those close to you, but I think it is rather a selfish notion. You can't expect people to remain dedicated the same way.
Our lives are ever changing, sometimes our lifestyle, commitments, jobs and even ideologies shift. And because of this the level of importance others have in our lives changes as well.
It is not that we don't care or respect that person anymore. But we just are no longer at the same wavelength as before. We may outgrow some friendships because of this.
Instead of clinging on to relationships, I think it is important to recognize this change, accept it and let go.
What are your thoughts? Would love to know.

October has been a weird month for me. So capping it with a little pick me up! It is a quick read, let me know what you think.
To be honest, this was the last thing on my mind as I embarked on my spontaneous journey of 5 minutes mug cake.

Just another day in Pakistan and another piece of art banned. It is such a shame that a show has been blocked for viewing in the very country it was conceived.
Asim Abbasi's brainchild Churails is the latest victim of our country's cancel culture. The step was taken after a scene from the show started making rounds with massive backlash from social media vigilantes.
The show premiered about a month ago on Indian OTT Zee 5 (which is also bringing 4 more shows purely Pakistani in the near future).
The show holds up a mirror to a society that refuses to stop brushing issues under the carpet. It is bold, explicit but in essence a female-centric story.
is essentially just a story. A piece of fiction is often influenced by real life but hardly ever the other way around.
Those policing these bans, I wonder how fragile their egos are to stop people from exercising their freedom of expression. In a country where misogyny runs deep, voices are suppressed. But for how long really?
When will we start talking about real issues instead of scrutinizing mindless biscuit ads, dramas and now a web series?

Have you watched Enola Holmes on Netflix?
Sherlock Holmes, the ingenious detective that we have all grown to love over the numerous adaptions, is present in the movie. But, his presence is limited. He is there only as an extension of Enola's journey.
Recently, I read a comment under a thread discussing the movie. The viewer was not pleased by the fact that Sherlock's presence was limited.
But I disagree.
The title of the movie reads "Enola Holmes", so her being the focal point of the narrative is all that mattered!
This should be a rule of thumb when writing as well. Know the purpose of the article, the target audience and their needs.
Keep it simple, clear, relevant and you are golden.

You have been keeping so much welled up inside, you fear the pressure would surpass your resilience.
One day it will no longer uphold the iron clad walls that stand between the world ready to pounce at the first chance they get, and your truth, your memories keeping company to your insomnia and of course the sonnets written by your suffering.
One day, the tears rolling down would meet the gushing storm that awaits its thunder.
One day, you will feel like you are drowning in your resolve.
One day, it will not be enough.
One day, it will set you free, but what would you be without your vulnerabilities?
Would you be finally free?

I see many people critiquing others for putting up content that doesn't fit the memo. I have seen this especially on LinkedIn, which is a 'professional' platform. So is it really professional to look down on people for sharing the stories they want to share?
Expression is limitless and never uniform. I may like expressing my views in painfully long post, others may use quips to send their point across. Some may like to joke around or make memes. The point is they can do so, because they are solely responsible for their voice. We are all story-tellers, be your own and let others be.
P.S: It never hurts being funny, you never know they can land a freelance copywriting gig that requires their sense of humor.

As you celebrate being an independent nation think about the white in our flag. The white that was meant to be embraced but continues to be marginalised.
Think about the q***r who continue to be persecuted for their identity.
The children who are stripped of their innocence due to the cruelty of some vile predators.
The lesser fortunate, who due their lack of privilege are at the mercy of those in power.
The women who are refused their basic rights by deep seeded patriarchy.
Think about all those who have been refused justice that they sought only because they were up against tyrants with deep pockets.
Think about it all and think about the solutions to these all. Being proponents of this nation, think

Hajj has begun with only 1000 pilgrims this year in light of the on going pandemic. The pilgrims are locals chosen between the ages 20-50 years old with no history of terminal illness.
The images from Kabbah showcase the measures being taken to maintain SOPs for social distancing. The pilgrims are seen wearing masks. They are required to maintain meter and half distance from one another during Tawaf and congregational prayers. Touching and kissing Kabbah is off-limits.
This year Hajj is very different than previous year with up to 2.5 million making the pilgrimage.
The pilgrims will be heading of Mount Arafah to mark the completion of the rituals of Hajj. As recorded in Sahih Muslim, those who are not performing Hajj are encouraged to Fast on the day of Arafah, as it eradicates the sins of the previous year and upcoming year as well.

We often begin to build up walls after we have a falling out with a loved one, creating distances. Disagreements and disputes are natural however one must always find it in their heart to make room for letting go and forgiveness, not for the other person's sake but their own. Harbouring grudges give way to a lot of negativity in your life. Holding on to bad experiences is also not healthy.
Do you agree?

Life isn't always peachy and some trails last longer than anticipated. If you find yourself in a never ending abyss of troubling times and it seems that the hardship has drenched out every ounce of your being, I hope you find it in your heart to hold on to faith. You may feel like you are losing yourself but remember no matter how hard the test, you will once again bloom.
Like Allah says in the Quran
