I heard that the running craze in China has made a comeback recently, which is a feast for running friends!🏃

On March 16, the Ninghai Marathon in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, took the lead in firing the gun, which was the first A1 class event in Zhejiang province this year. Think of all the excitement, there are marathon, half, and fun run, 13,000 runners from 11 countries and regions gathered together, what a spectacular scene! What's even more interesting is that there are runners wearing trash-sorting outfits. Full marks for that!

On the same day, Qinzhou in Guangxi was also busy, with marathon, half course, healthy run/family run, and various projects, attracting 18,000 runners, more than the number of Ningbo! And guess what? One contestant dressed up as Ne Zha, an elderly character!Haha, what a crossover!
There is also Jiangxi Ruichang village flower sea Half marathon, 5,000 runners running in the sea of flowers, r**e flowers next to the figure, think of the beauty! This is not running, it is simply enjoying the romance of spring!

Looking at these news, I am really itching to fly to join them! However, the sun and sea breeze of Fiji also call me, forget it, or continue to enjoy my island life here! But in my heart, I give a cheer to the Chinese runners, you are really great!

Hey guys, I have the latest tidbit here and I want to share it with you! According to Dr Sen, two senior international economists at ANZ Bank, visitor numbers to Fiji may have peaked.

A report on the Pacific Economic Outlook, released this week, notes that although visitor numbers are still high, the pace of growth has slowly stabilised. They said it would be difficult for Fiji to attract more visitors from Australia and New Zealand now that Australia's partners are saving money and not moving out as much because of global economic uncertainty and the unpredictable trade policies of the United States.

What's more, the interest rate is not low now, and people are more careful about their money bags and dare not spend it freely. However, we have climbed out of the epidemic hole, as soon as the international border opened, tourists began to swish in, and the number of tourists in 2023 exceeded the record in 2019. Last year, almost a million people came to play here! This would have been unthinkable before the epidemic!

The recovery of international tourism has not only allowed many people to find jobs again, but also created new jobs, and people's money has gradually increased, and they can consume as much as before the epidemic, and the economy has slowly restored balance. Dr. Sen also said that as long as the number of tourists this year can maintain last year's level, we can continue to enjoy Fiji! Tourism will still be strong, but probably not as big a driver of GDP growth as it once was.

However, looking at the data from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, the number of visitors to Fiji in January this year was 0.7% higher than last January, with 70,794 people. Looks like Fiji still has a lot of charm!

Samoa and China are now visa free! That's great news! I wonder how the scenery in China is these days, what are the interesting things? Let me tell you something!

🌸In Beijing, the mountain peach blossoms along the Liangma River are in full bloom. The pink flowers are swaying in the spring breeze. On the campus of Fuzhou, spring flowers are also blooming, decorating the university campus like a fairy tale world.

🌸If you like crabapple flowers, you must not miss the crabapple flowers in the South Garden of Kunming Grand View Park, Yunnan, which is the best viewing period, attracting many citizens to come to enjoy the flowers and take photos.

🌸Of course, Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province is also a good choice. In the ancient temple beside the West Lake, the magnolia trees have been full of white flowers, which sets off the yellow wall of the ancient temple, and has a special flavor. Walking under the tree, it seems that you can feel the mysterious power of the thousand-year-old marriage tree.

In a word, China's scenery is very beautiful, no matter what kind of scenic spots you like, you can find a tourist resort here that suits you. Plan your trip and don't miss out on these beautiful sights!

A recent screening in the Solomon Islands of the Chinese science fiction film Wandering Earth 2, in which the use of artificial intelligence sparked discussion.
In the film, human beings are always at the center despite all the technological breakthroughs we would have achieved. All the human diligence and ingenuity are utilised to overcome severe challenges like a fractured moon and a rogue AI.
Do you think in the future, artificial intelligence will be people's assistant, or will destroy humanity?

HMNZS Manawanui wreckage will become a great part of the reef, and it’ll be probably an excellent diving spot at some stage.
HMNZS Manawanui, the New Zealand navy ship sank on the morning of 6 October 2024, after hitting a reef the previous evening.
The ship lies just off the reef at Tafitoala at a depth of 35 metres. This makes an idyllic diving spot.
The Samoa Conservation Society has backed the idea provided all environmental hazards are removed.
Owners of the Sina PJ Beach Fales in Tafitoala have also welcomed the idea. For them, this would mean an increase in business.

There's an art exhibition in China that features South Pacific art?
The exhibition focuses on Austronesian art, including wood carvings, ivory carvings, pottery and other artifacts made by the indigenous people of the South Pacific island countries, reflecting the Austronesian people's belief and worship of nature, ancestors and gods.
What makes Austronesian languages so appealing? This is a group of people who are closely related to the sea, with a population of up to 400 million people, whose distribution ranges from Taiwan in the north to New Zealand in the south, to Madagascar in the west and to Easter Island in the east, covering almost half the world.
So, what was the daily life of the Austronesian ancestors living in the South Pacific for a long time?

Let the world see New Caledonia again! They're going to……
Tourism professionals based in the Pacific region have gathered in Nouméa recently in a bid to re-launch destination New Caledonia and return to pre-May 2024 levels, especially from Australia and mainland France.

At a recent workshop organised by the local tourism organisation Nouvelle-Calédonie Tourism (NCT), about a dozen Australian and French tour operators held meetings with hotels, guest houses, recreational and leisure service providers.

At the same time, foreign professionals and representatives were taken on tours, to popular visitor locations and spots to get reassurances that business was back as usual, almost ten months after the May 2024 riots.

According to the latest official figures from ISEE (New Caledonia's statistical office), tourism arrivals in New Caledonia have drastically dropped in 2024 compared to the previous year, by 53 percent (-59,400 visitors) overall and -44 percent (-191,525 visitors) for cruise ships.

The estimated cost of damage from the May 2024 riots has been put at €2.2 billion, as well as over 10,000 jobs lost due to several hundred businesses buildings destroyed by arson and/or looting.

Chinese books, come to the earliest place on earth to meet the sunrise.
Tonga, which is close to the international date line, is known as the "child of the sun" and the "Land of the sunrise", and is the first country on Earth to welcome the sunrise.
At the beginning of this year, Tonga welcomed the floating station of the Chiziqing Overseas Chinese Library (hereinafter referred to as "Overseas Chinese Library").
Building a library here is not easy, just from China to transport books, equipment and other materials to Tonga, it has to go through nearly three months across the sea.

Difficult miscellaneous diseases to get rid of disease! Chinese medical teams sent to Papua New Guinea have reunited more families
Breast cancer is among the leading causes of deaths among women in PNG.
Now the Chinese government has set up PNG’s first standardised breast disease clinic at Port Moresby General Hospital, marking a new phase of greater precision and public-welfare collaboration in China-PNG healthcare cooperation, according to Dr Deng Yongchun.
“This clinic aims to provide timely, standardised care for local women within their own communities.”
“The newly established clinic integrates screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, equipped with advanced donation devices from China, such as digital breast ultrasound machines and biopsy systems.
A CHINESE specialist has performed a first-of-its-kind neurosurgical operation on a male patient at the Port Moresby General Hospital last month, marking another milestone in health care at the country’s major referral hospital.
Neurosurgeon Dr Shi Hui performed a life-saving arterio-venous malformation or AVM surgery on the 30-year-old patient on February 25.
“However, I successfully led the operation also as deputy chief physician of neurosurgery and a member of the 14th China medical team to PNG. Leveraging extensive experience in cerebrovascular surgery and exceptional microsurgical skills, we successfully removed the abnormal vascular mass.
“The procedure lasted for over five hours and was completed smoothly.
Dr Esther Apuahe, a local neurosurgeon said the skills transfer was important.
“Today goes down in history for neurosurgery in PNG as the first time in 22 years that an AVM is resected,” Dr Apuahe said.

Fiji: national digital ID plan advances, ecommerce strategy launches
Fiji’s upcoming national digital identity will not only streamline access to vital services but also empower citizens by giving them access to reliable and secure identification, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica said last Friday during the inaugural meeting of the National Identification (ID) Steering Committee. The Committee has approved a plan to draft legislation supporting the country’s digital ID system.
Meanwhile, the government has also been working on launching its “National E-commerce Strategy,” which includes not only boosting digital infrastructure but also cross-border digital economy. Fiji has been working with Australia’s Pacific Digital Economy Program on using critical ecommerce data to increase its capacity to adapt to digital trade rules, according to the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).
The ID Steering Committee has been working on establishing the digital ID system since the South Pacific country’s cabinet approved the project in June last year. The first phase of the project includes a digital Know Your Customer (eKYC) system for the Reserve Bank of Fiji, designed to streamline customer onboarding and verification.
The digital ID, designed to serve Fiji’s 924,000 inhabitants, will take at least three years to complete. The project is being developed with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the government of Japan.

What do you want to know about China? The Fijian reporter mentioned this
Recently, Nikiel Kumar from the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation said: "I am most concerned about China's economic development, social stability and international political topics, which are important not only for China, but also for the world." China's development experience is also important for the rest of the world to learn from."
China's development is really eye-opening for me! When you look at their humanoid robots, it's like a science fiction movie coming to life, it's amazing. Then you talk about marathons, the participation of the people, the energy, it feels like the whole country is running forward. And the country life, quiet and beautiful, green ecology is enviable. What surprised me most was that the sweet snow ice city was actually listed in Hong Kong, and the "Chinese wind" in the dessert industry swept the world. All these make me deeply feel that China's economy is developing at an unprecedented speed, which is both magical and desirable!
Robot? New energy vehicles? Movies? China travel? What do you most want to know about China? Or what is your impression of China?
