Civic Club Members and neighbours, there is a critical ‼️ issue that directly impacts the safety and well-being of our community: the deteriorating street markings on Park Place Boulevard.

For some time now, the road markings on Park Place Boulevard main street have been in desperate need of attention. The faded lines and worn-out paint have created a safety hazard for drivers and pedestrians alike. Despite our previous requests, it seems that the urgency of this matter has not been fully recognized, and the condition of the street continues to decline.

Well-maintained road markings are not just a matter of aesthetics; they are crucial for guiding traffic, preventing accidents, and ensuring the overall safety of everyone who uses the road. The neglect of these markings poses a serious risk, and it is imperative that we address this issue before it leads to more significant problems. We continue to see auto accidents, that can potentially lead to fatalities.

I urge you to join us at our upcoming August meeting, where we will revisit our numerous requests to have Park Place Boulevard freshly painted with the necessary road markings. This is not just about improving the look of our neighborhood, but about restoring a fundamental aspect of its safety and functionality.

Your support and participation in this matter are crucial. Together, we can ensure that Park Place Boulevard receives the attention it deserves and that our community remains a safe and welcoming place for all.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our neighborhood. I look forward to your presence at the meeting and to working together on this important issue.

Sincerely,
President, Reveille-Park Place Civic Club

The Northeast Action Committee Disaster Preparedness Training Day at HCC North Forest today.

This evenings event stimulated awareness and empowered us to perhaps saves lives. I spent 9 days without lights, it gave me time to think that these ain't your grandfather's storm nowadays. What I will say is that I will endorse community training like the one. The presentations and discussions centered in on FEMA Disaster claims, and later on what to do during a natural disaster that causes widespread power outages. While it didn't answer the majority of my questions, it did tell me there were ppl out there that could provide the necessary training I would need to survive the next countrywide disaster better, often for free. So, as, I earlier stated the training would better on the local community level like tonight's, which discussed solar batteries, proper use of generators, food prep on gas stoves, receiving medical certifications which teach techniques to address those effected by extreme heat, and allows limited access to proper medical treatment during a crisis.

I encourage each City Council and Commissioner Court to purchase a set number of solar batteries, propane generators & propane stoves to loan to trusted citizens, community organizations or nonprofits in their communities to create HUBS that address simple power needs during the aftermath of a natural disaster recovery period. I also encourage them to have these groups do hands on training by certified individuals at disaster preparedness mtgs, town hall meeting or community gatherings, so that residents can survive until help arrives, even if that's days later.

I'd like to thank the Northeast Action Committee for providing it along with West Street Recovery.
