I couldn’t help but wonder what the term ‘metaverse’ refers to? How would we benefit from this?
Metaverse is becoming increasingly popular. Let’s break down what that is all about and whether it means a new technological stage is coming.
I decided to study the term, when Mark Zuckerberg renamed Facebook as Meta and started promoting the new ‘Metaverse’ virtual world concept. Then I learned that some companies started developing strategies related to this.
• It’s basically a virtual-reality space in which you can interact within a computer-generated environment through your avatar (a digital representation of yourself) and socialize with other users.
• How can you immerse yourself into this space?
Through a special headset with motion-sensing controllers which allows you to literally live a second digital life.
Some video games with 3-D effects are precursors to the metaverse. Players spend hundreds of hours playing video games. In theory, when the metaverse becomes available, this amount of time we spend will significantly increase. As a result, we will spend more money there as well.
• As I am originally a marketing specialist, I was wondering how this trend would affect businesses.
