NEWS ALERT
Enhanced Community Quarantine declared over NCR and adjacent provinces, effective Monday, 29 March until April 4, 2021.
Government promises aid but details on the amount will be published on Monday. Markets and stores will remain open but public is advised to cut down on non-essential travel.
The ECQ was recommended over the 'NCR Plus Bubble' by the IATF amid alarming rise in Covid19 cases and capped hospital beds.

NEWS ALERT
DZR Airport arriving individuals now allowed to commute via public transportation.
According to CAAP media officer Fatima Obina, returning individuals may now commute via on jeeps or multicabs as long as they do not have symptoms of Covid-19. Previously, arriving individuals may only leave the airport if they are picked up through private vehicles by relatives or acquaintances.
Meanwhile, the country records 5,404 new cases-- the highest since August 26 last year.

A police official asks Calbayog City court a list of lawyers representing personalities from communist-terrorist groups (CTGs).
In a letter dated March 12, the police official includes a table requesting details like affiliations and clients.
Purpose of list is not indicated.

The Tacloban Bypass Road will be open for light and heavy vehicles starting March 15, Monday.
This is according the Tacloban City Information Office. The bypass road is 6.4 kilometers long and is popular among cyclists.
Started construction in 2014, the road is expected to cut travel time along the Maharlika Highway from 90-minutes to just half an hour.

NEWS UPDATE
Firefight ensued when men aboard Mayor Aquino’s van fired on vehicles they thought were tailing them suspiciously.
Regional police confirm that officers from the PDEU and IMEG were involved in the shootout that killed the b Calbayog City mayor’s bodyguard and driver. Two other companions were taken to a hospital.
A PDEU officer was killed, another injured. Investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE (10:24AM): PDEU chief was also killed in the encounter. The body was recovered under the Laboyao Bridge where the firefight took place on Monday at around 5:30PM. Fatalities now climb to 6, including one civilian.

BREAKING NEWS
Calbayog City mayor Ronald Aquino shot dead. The ambush occured around 5PM at Brgy. Lonoy, Calbayog City.
UPDATE (March 8 | 8:40PM): Three police escorts confirmed killed by unidentified gunmen. This is according to regional police spox Lt. Col. Bella Rentuaya. The victims were onboard a van when they were attacked. No suspects have been identified.
UPDATE (9:07PM): Authorities say one attacker was killed and confirms it is a police officer.
UPDATE (9:27PM): Assailants were riding motorcycles.

At least 9 killed, 6 arrested in simultaneous raids conducted by law enforcement and state forces in the homes and offices of progressive groups in Rizal, Batangas, and Laguna after search warrants were issued.
Among those killed and arrested are labor and environmental activists. Police say fi****ms and explosives were recovered but have yet to release a list.

DepEd extends current school year until July 10. Based on a DepEd order, “The additional two-week period shall be compensated by a similar adjustment in the school break between SY 2021-2022.”
The adjustment was made to “address learning gaps” and to give more time for teachers to prepare learning resources.

"NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" is the DOH EV's rallying call as it continues its "Chikiting Ligtas" campaign to vaccinate children below 5 years old from measles, rubella, and polio. The public is enjoined to take their children to the nearest designated vaccination posts in their respective barangays or communities.

Tacloban City LGU sets new Covid-19 protocols for returning residents and APORs. Travel documents are no longer required for those coming from other Eastern Visayan provinces but QR codes are mandatory. LSIs, tourists, OFWs, and APORs are still required to produce the following specific travel documents and IDs:

1. Gov't-issued ID (birth certificates for infants)
2. Barangay certification issued by barangay of origin indicating they are not probable or suspected Covid-19 patients

DOH reports detection of 6 cases of the South African variant in PH, 30 new cases of UK variant.
DOH-EV reports 24 new Covid-19 cases in the region. It also reports 1 death and 67 recoveries as of 8AM. Eastern Visayas currently has 328 active cases.
