Dragons Dogma 2: 8/10

Ive been gaming my whole life. I am 30. I own 700 games on my steam account, and i own 600+ physically across all the consoles ive owned throughout my life. Ive played A LOT of games. It has to be at least somewhere around 1000 games. Very few have caught me and made me go WOW. Its a short list comprising of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, The Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and War, & a few honorable mentions you could pry out of me if you asked. This game, Dragons Dogma 2 has now, officially seated itself in that list of games that has made me go WOW.

What's so spectacular about this game is that during fights if you think about trying something crazy to take down a beast or if you just wanna be cool like i wanted to be in my first encounter & jump off a cliff, plunging my sword into the back of a cyclops, stabbing it until it dies, & it collapses to the ground , in doing so its foot hits a dam, busting a river loose and nearly washing me and my party away, YOU CAN. Fighting griffins and whoopin its ASS so it decides to retreat but OH NO! YOURE CLIMBING ON ITS BACK AS IT FLIES AWAY. So, you decide you're gonna ride this out and fight it the whole way. Slashing with your sword over and over until you finally, VICTORY, it comes plunging back down to earth as you're riding on its back. It slams into the ground sending you tumbling over it. You head back to the griffin to collect your prize of loot to enhance your equipment when suddenly an Ogre comes BUSTING through the trees and another epic battle ensues.

Seriously, this game is one of the most fun gaming experiences i have ever had.

Is the gameplay perfect? No. Is it sometimes frustrating? 100% absolutely. Are there dumb microtransactions? Yes, but everything they sell is EASILY earned in game and there is no need whatsoever to buy them. The reviews will have you believe that they are intrusive. They have zero impact on this game. Is this the best game ever made? No. However, its issues feel somehow complimentary in the context of the game and i had a freaking blast!
