"Cone of Silence," a piano cycle by Tamás Szigyártó, has been officially released today. This is his third full-length piano cycle, which he regards as a companion piece to his earlier work, "There Will Be Rainbow." "Cone of Silence" was primarily composed during the COVID-19 lockdown period of 2020-2022. It explores the theme of solitude by focusing on minor harmonies that create coherence across its tunes.

The album was recorded in the serene setting of St. Catherine's Church in St. Petersburg. The recording was handled by Vladimir Nosyrev.

"Cone of Silence" is now available on all major music streaming platforms. Further details and streaming options can be found at https://oclassica.com/releases/cone-of-silence-by-tamas-szigyarto/

Single "Voices & Echoes" by Tamas Szigyarto is a two-part romantic novelette from upcoming piano suite "Cone of Silence". One of the first pieces completed that brought the whole suite to life and probably the brightest of all. It builds upon a short melodic theme in the first part that is reflected in the different form in the second half. A dialog with oneself is the core idea of the piece. "Voices & Echoes" is out now on all music streaming platforms https://oclassica.com/releases/voices-and-echoes-by-tamas-szigyarto/

Explore Oclassica's new release, a world premiere recording by Kevin Nordstrom, showcasing three exceptional solo viola compositions in the album "Works for Viola by American Women Composers."

Joan Tower’s "Simply Purple" delves into monophonic textures and repetitive patterns, exploiting the lush "purple" timbre of the viola. Despite its simplicity, Tower's composition evokes powerful emotions, creating an incredible and impactful listening experience.

Lillian Fuchs's "Sonata Pastorale" unfolds with two expansive movements, characterized by idyllic introspection and vigorous intensity. Fuchs, a virtuoso, skillfully weaves a diverse array of moods and characters throughout the composition.

Alyssa Morris's "Puccini Fantasy," commissioned by Glenn Harman and written for Kevin Nordstrom in 2021, adds a beautiful and virtuosic dimension to the viola and piano concert repertoire. This composition features three arias from Giacomo Puccini's operas: “O Mio Babbino Caro” from Gianni Schicchi, “Nessun Dorma” from Turandot, and “Quando Me’n Vo” known also as “Musetta’s Waltz” from La Boheme. These arias were hand selected by Glenn Harman who commissioned the work and performs as pianist on this recording alongside the violist Kevin Nordstrom.

Don't miss this opportunity to listen to incredible Kristina Socanski

Hello friends,✨
Tomorrow I will be performing at the new music festival HøstRiss in Fredrikstad, and I am really excited to play some incredible music written in the past 50 years.
On the program:
«Isabelle Eberhardt Dreams of Pianos» by Missy Mazzoli, a piece that speaks of dreams, regrets and remembrances
«25. juni 2022 kl. 0115» by Trond Erikson which I am honored to premiere, dedicated to the victims of the tragic shooting that took place in Oslo in the summer of 2022
«Listen» by Arne Nordheim, in which the composer asks the audience to listen to what is happening inside the piano, not while the music is playing, but once it stops.
«Makrokosmos Vol II» by George Crumb (excerpts), conveying primeval energy, mysteries of the galaxy, cosmic beauty, agony, horror, and consolation.
«Mad Rush» by Philip Glass which makes one look inwards and reflect, through repeated patterns that are never truly the same but continuously offer a possibility for a new experience.

The second half of the concert will be featuring the brilliant Perma trio. Friends in Fredrikstad, let me know if you are interested in coming, I might have a ticket or two for you. 😊Take care everyone.🌸

Vincent Budd about newly released album by Pianist Christina Grigoryants. Thank you Vincent for this review!

"Congratulations to Christina Grigoryants on the release of her wonderful new album, 'Rachmaninoff Masterpieces' (Oclassica label). Her deep love for and intimate knowledge and understanding of the music of Sergei Rachmaninov comes shining through in beautiful, glorious performances of selections from his Moments Musicaux (Op. 16), Preludes (Op. 23), and Etudes-Tableaux (Op. 39), and, perhaps the centre-piece of the collection, his second Piano Sonata (Op. 36, original 1913 score). You will find it hard to hear a finer advocate of the composer's piano music and after hearing her extraordinary performance of the 1913 version of the 2nd sonata, I suspect you will not be able to listen to the more familiar and more commonly recorded revised score in the same way again. Although her stunning recitals of Rachmaninov and performances of the works of a number of other composers (Brubeck, Gershwin, etc.) have been available on her YouTube channel for a while, revealing her brilliant and delightful pianistic versatility and wide-ranging musical palette (and I have been privileged to view other highly moving moments and presentations), this is her first 'official' release, now available on all the familiar streaming services, with a CD to come. It will, I'm sure, gather her a legion of fans from around the world. It is certainly a must for all lovers of Rachmaninov's piano music.

An album of fantastic arrangements and her improvisations on various jazz classics and other popular songs called 'Friendly Fingers' is also being released on the same label this December. It is a delight.

Wishing you every success, Christina. :-) X 💜" – Vincent Budd.
