Unless there is a miracle comeback here, it looks like the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS are going to win back to back games in London to improve to 3-2 on the year which for the time being has moved them into FIRST PLACE in what is becoming a very competitive AFC South, the outcome also drops the red-hot Buffalo Bills to 3-2 and into a tie for first with the Dolphins who should be moving back into first place in the two team AFC East.

This is also the 2nd consecutive matchup the Jags have won over the Bills, this one was slightly more convincing than the 9-6 game in 2021. Also the first time in the all time matchup (which Jacksonville now leads 10-9) that either team has won back to back since 12/13 when the Bills won two in a row

Well Week 5 is underway, between the D.J. Moore vs Washington Commanders on Thursday night, and this Sunday morning showdown from London between the Jags and Bills, pretty interesting start to the week. After Thursday where we each picked opposite teams to win that game it was Josh picking the Bears to improve his season record to 36-28 whereas with the L, James drops to 41-23 but still holds on to the lead comfortably over Josh at least for now. Let's get to the picks for today's games and tomorrow's:

James' Picks:

Jaguars over Bills
Texans over Falcons
Lions over Panthers
Titans over Colts
Dolphins over Giants
Patriots over Saints
Ravens over Steelers
Bengals over Cardinals
Eagles over Rams
Broncos over Jets
Chiefs over Vikings
Niners over Cowboys
Packers over Raiders

Josh's Picks:

Bills over Jaguars
Texans over Falcons
Lions over Panthers
Colts over Titans
Dolphins over Giants
Saints over Patriots
Ravens over Steelers
Bengals over Cardinals
Rams over Eagles
Broncos over Jets
Chiefs over Vikings
Niners over Cowboys
Raiders over Packers

01/10/2023

It has been a real fascinating NCAA Football season, there have been some surprises but there has also been some not so surprising things such as the two time defending champion Georgia Bulldogs looking dominant yet again at 5-0. And for us here at the ACP our teams are doing fairly decent.

Josh supports two teams, first and foremost he is a huge Buckeye fan and even though he may not be from O-H-I-O he is beyond thrilled with the 4-0 start and the huge win over Notre Dame last week. He also is a supporter of the Colorado Buffaloes and NO he is not panicking over two losses to ranked opponents in Oregon & USC. Here is why Josh is not panicked

"The culture is changing at Colorado, this is a program that has not won more than 5 games in a season for 6 years. Infact it is a program that has not won more than 4 games in a season 3 years and only won 1 game last year and they didn't just lose last year, they got annihilated so to see the progression they have made early this season with new coach Prime Time Deion Sanders is a great feeling, my prediction for the Buffs is that they rebound next week with a win against AZ State, follow that up with a win over Stanford (return of Travis Hunter?) to get to 5-2, likely lose to UCLA falling to 5-3 before beating Oregon State & Arizona to get to wins and than splitting the last two games losing to Washington State and beating Utah to finish 8-4. Which as a Buffalo supporter who has watched this program win 9 games in the last 3 years I see as a HUGE improvement"

When asked about Ohio State, Josh simply said:

"It will be CFP for this program again, I think the only team we will likely lose too is Michigan unfortunately, but would not be surprised to see a Ohio State/Georgia rematch in fact I welcome it"

James supports both Ohio State & Colorado as well but is known for his support of Oklahoma over the last few years and yet again the "Boomer Sooners" are also looking good at 5-0 this year as well.

A couple teams of note through 5 weeks:

Washington: 5-0
USC: 5-0
Utah: 4-1
UNC: 4-0
Missouri: 5-0
Kansas: 4-1
Washington St: 4-0

Going to be a great push to the finish

01/10/2023

We know this post is a little late given that we already a game a half into week 4 but that we should get this up before the main slate of games this afternoon.

Coming into the week both of us are over .500 in our predictions with James sitting at 27-21 & Josh sitting 2 games back at 25-23. This week obviously started Thursday with that huge win for the Detroit Lions (PROBABLE NFC NORTH CHAMP?) and we actually both had the Lions winning that game in our predictions but are going to make that a push and not count it in our overall record.

We were considering making the Jags vs Falcons a push too, given the first half is almost over but in the NFL you can never say never so we are going to count this game towards our weekly predictions so here are the picks:

James:

Jaguars over Falcons
Bills over Dolphins
Vikings over Panthers
Broncos over Bears
Browns over Ravens
Texans over Steelers
Rams over Colts
Buccaneers over Saints
Eagles over Commanders
Titans over Bengals
Chargers over Raiders
Cowboys over Patriots

Steelers over Texans
Rams over Colts
Saints over Buccaneers
Eagles over Commanders
Bengals over Titans
Chargers over Raiders
Cowboys over Patriots
Niners over Cardinals
Chiefs over Jets
Seahawks over Giants

24/09/2023

Well here we are in Week 3 and every week we have been putting up our picks, unfortunately due to busy schedules and both being dads, we were not able to put this post up before now but just to make a correction on our overall records coming into play today (including the TNF Niners/Giants game) James holds a record of 20-13 & Josh is 16-17. Hopefully we have a big day and a successful one at that.

James' Picks:
Bills over Commanders
Vikings over Chargers
Saints over Packers
Lions over Falcons
Browns over Titans
Jaguars over Texans
Jets over Patriots
Dolphins over Broncos
Ravens over Colts
Seahawks over Panthers
Cowboys over Cardinals
Chiefs over Bears

It's the start of Week 3 in the NFL and let's say picking these games is off to great start for one of us and a slow start for the other. After two weeks of games predictions James is off to a real hot start sitting at 21-10 entering play tonight whereas Josh finished last week red hot finishing 9-6 on the week to bring his record to 16-15 entering play tonight. So another TNF battle, who is taking this one?

James says the Niners over the Giants and Josh is hoping to pick up where he left off from last week where he picked the winners in the Sunday Night and both Monday nighters correctly but making the very wise selection of the............ NINERS OVER THE GIANTS.

Week 2 starts tonight with what should be a pretty goof Thursday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) and the Minnesota Vikings (0-1) so who are we taking you may ask well.....

James is riding with the reigning defending NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles to hold home field and improve to 2-0

Josh is predicting this to be a barnburner but that the Minnesota Vikings are going to rebound from their loss to the Bucs and squeak out a win in Philly.

So Week 1 went 2 different ways when it comes to our predictions but all in all a few of the games could have gone either way but in total a great start for James who went 12-4 on his predictions, whereas Josh went 7-9. Going to look to turn this around in week 2

Hey everyone, we are so happy to announce that WE ARE BACK!!!! This time for good, we know you are probably thinking that yeah we have heard that before but we assure you that this time we are going to give you everything we got and it begins TONIGHT with the 2023 NFL Kickoff game between the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the potential Cinderella story Detroit Lions. And this transitions into a full slate of games over the weekend so how are we returning? We are returning with OUR week 1 picks for the NFL season and would love for you to share yours in the comment section. Without further adieu here we go:

Detroit Lions @ Kansas City Chiefs:

This by far should be a highly entertaining game, obviously a couple stars are either confirmed missing or are potentially missing this game. The Lions are going to be a very entertaining team to watch and honestly we both feel there could be an upset here as the Chiefs have NO CHRIS JONES & may not have Travis Kelce but they do have Patrick Mahomes. With that said we both see this game going different directions.

Our picks: James - Lions; Josh Chiefs

The rest of our picks unfold as such:

James:
Browns over Bengals
Cowboys over Giants
Ravens over Texans
Falcons over Panthers
Jags over Colts
Vikings over Bucs
Niners over Steelers
Commanders over Cardinals

Thanks everyone for staying with us during these long periods of nothing sports related. About 2 weeks ago our intention was to put up a video about everything Leafs related and we have not had a chance to do that yet but is coming so please stay tuned for that. But while you are waiting for that. Tonight is the start of this year's Stanley Cup Final and on paper it does not seem like the most attractive but we feel like this one could be a barnburner of a matchup.

We would like to share our picks with everyone here tonight and we have not had a chance to fully discuss this as podcast partners yet so for now here are Josh's predictions:

Game 1 - Florida @ Vegas
Winner: Vegas Golden Knights (Series 1-0 VGK)

Game 2 - Florida @ Vegas
Winner: Florida Panthers (Series 1-1)

Game 3 - Vegas @ Florida
Winner: Florida Panthers (Series 2-1 FLA)

Game 4 - Vegas @ Florida
Winner: Florida Panthers (Series 3-1 FLA)

Game 5 - Florida @ Vegas
Winner: Vegas Golden Knights (Series 3-2 FLA)

Game 6 - Vegas @ Florida
Winner: Florida Panthers (FLA WINS SERIES 4-2)

STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS: Florida Panthers
Conn Smythe: Matthew Tkachuk

James' Predictions will be shared ASAP

We know it has been a while since we have posted and we appreciate the continued support as life has just become extremely hectic for both of us. However we are thrilled to announce that are BACK!!!!

Our intention is to get a podcast video up tomorrow and the topic will be these two recent changes in the Toronto Maple Leafs management structure. We knew there was going to be changes after a disappointing second round exit but these moves being the starting points took us by surprise. How about you all? Were you shocked to see Dubas "mutually part ways"? Who do you think should replace him? What's next for Spezza? Hear our take and more tomorrow evening

27/02/2023

Here is just some of the more high profile deals that have been made over the last month or so. Teams in playoff race are seriously making a play for positioning and looking to build enough depth to go on a long playoff run. The Islanders know they are in Wild Card position and landed a huge fish in Bo Horvat and on top of that signed him long term, The Rangers responded with the huge Tarasenko deal, Boston made a move that made their already scary team even more terrifying. The Lightning knew they had to do something so went out and got Jeannot last night. Timo Meier on the move to the Devils who have looked scary good this year as well.

Than for two hometown boys, watching our Leafs make some massive moves over the last 10 days, first going and getting Ryan O'Reilly who is a guy that we have been clammering about and wanting in a Maple Leafs jersey for a few years not, but not only that, adding a nice depth forward in Acciari as well. We knew they were not done after this and Dubas may have just earned his contract extension landing Jake McCabe and another depth F in Sam Lafferty. Here is why we love these deals as Leaf fans, it clearly fills holes in our roster but also we give up no key pieces either from the core of from the system. Brilliant work by our General Manager.

We could be in for quite a week in the NHL. We are Just over 96 hours away from the NHL Trade Deadline and for the last 3 weeks the league has already started to see some real movement with some huge names, we expect more big names to move before the 3PM deadline on Friday afternoon. Who do you think moves next? Patrick Kane? Jacob Chychrun? Erik Karlsson? Is there a name on the move that we cant see coming yet?

#6 New York Giants @ #1 Philadelphia Eagles:

Josh - Giants; James - Giants

16/01/2023

It has been quite the weekend in the NFL, we already discussed Saturday night. Sunday's games were very very interesting and frankly not at all how we expected them to turn out despite our predictions:

Buffalo Bills defeat Miami Dolphins 34-31:

This game was supposed to be a complete drubbing of the Dolphins, instead what we got was a team from South Florida who refused to quit despite being forced to use their Rookie 3rd string QB and this was after falling down 17-0 early. The defending AFC East Champion Buffalo Bills made a number of costly errors throughout this game but in the end they survived and will move on to another game. However they better clean u their game and put in the extra prep work now if they are going to play for a Super Bowl. Kudos to the Dolphins for almost pulling off the upset belief is they will be back and the AFC East is only going to get more and more competitive.

New York Giants upset the NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings 31-24:

Honestly, this game could have gone either way but our belief is that this Giants team should not be taken lightly. Yes, we understand that the Vikings were the #3 seed and dominated most of the year but the reality is at least to us the Vikes looked very inconsistent despite the contrary when it came to winning. Josh picked the Vikings to win this game (and was wrong) but also had the take of, if the Giants came to play and the Vikings even gave them the slightest opening it would be lights out for the NFC North champ and that is what happened. Kudos to the Giants best of luck in the City of Brotherly Love next week, against yet another team we believe is hyped up beyond what it deserves. As for the Vikings, it may be a long offseason of figuring out how to improve on not the regular season play but ultimately figuring out how to have playoff success.

AFC North Champs Cincinnati Bengals rally for a win over division foe Baltimore Ravens.

This game was gritty and ultimately not at all the blowout we expected. Kudos to the Ravens for putting up a fight but than again that is the Raven way.

So after 5 games our prediction totals so far:

Josh: 4-1
James: 5-0

That leads us to the Wild Card Finale tonight;

#5 Dallas Cowboys vs #4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

This game should be a battle, and yes a lot of people are going to refuse to write off or go against Tom Brady in the playoffs, we get it. He is a different breed come the post-season but there is just something that feels different about this year and there are going to be those who just expect the Cowboys to choke in the post-season but at some point we have to ask: Is this the year they figure it out? We anticipate this game is going to go back and forth and will likely see both teams exceed 24 points. Another story line to pay attention to here is Micah Parsons is going to have an extra line of motivation as he just became a father a few days ago.

Our picks:

Josh - Cowboys (p.s. Brady playing his last game as a Buc)
James - Buccaneers

15/01/2023

Wow! What a start to a wild weekend. Quick recap of the Saturday games:

San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 41-23 in a tale of two halves. The Seahawks looked motivated and ready to really challenge the Niners in the first 30 minutes. However, something happened in the second half and in our opinion when things started getting a little testy after whistles it was almost like the Niners were tired of the Seahwaks hanging around and pulled away with a huge 2nd half outscoring their division rival 25-6. They had massive games out of their stars including rookie QB Brock Purdy, RB Christian McCaffery, and Jack of all trades Deebo Samuel. Now the Seahawks have the off-season to continue rebuilding after what was a very impressive season. The Niners wait for their next opponent.

We want to talk about the tale of two halves, the prime time game between the Jags and Chargers looked like two completely different games. The Chargers DOMINATED the first half and we mean that literally. Offense looked consistent, Defense looked phenomenal picking off Trevor Lawrence 4 times in the opening half, 3 of those INTs by Asante Samuel Jr. The Bolts had a 27-7 halftime lead but you still felt like the Jags were not going to go away and give up. The second half they looked like a whole new team who chipped away at the deficit. Trevor Lawrence went from throwing 1 TD, 4INTs in the first half to throwing 3 TDs in the second half leading the absolutely UNPRECEDENTED and UNEXPECTED comeback. Stunning the Bolts with a 31-30 victory. We here at the ACP told you the Chargers were taking this Jags team too lightly and boy were we right.

We both went 2-0 with our Saturday predictions so let's see how we do today. Here are the games:

#7 Miami Dolphins vs #2 Buffalo Bills

Let's face facts this game should not be close. The Dolphins are banged up and are coming off a stretch of games where they have looked dreadful. Started the season 8-3, finished 9-8 lucky to make the playoffs and their first task is to knock off the reigning defending AFC East Champs Buffalo Bills in Buffalo? Good luck. The Bills are the better team but also are going to be riding this wave of emotion and have a deeper yearning for a deep run with everything they as a team/city have been through this year.

Picks; Josh - Bills & James - Bills

#6 New York Giants vs #3 Minnesota Vikings

This game could go either way and it is going to depend on which Vikings team shows up, if it plays to its capabilities at their fullest they should win but if they want to play lackadaisical than this Giants team is the wrong team to don't against.

Picks; Josh - Vikings & James - Giants

#6 Baltimore Ravens vs #3 Cincinnatti Bengals

This game is going to be ugly and frankly in all likelihood a blowout. The Ravens are banged up and rolling out a tandem QB package against Joe Burrow and the boys. Sorry Purple birds but your season ends tonight.

Picks: Josh - Bengals & James - Bengals

Enjoy the games today and stay tuned for our recap tomorrow as well as our pick for the final Wild Card game between the Cowboys & Buccaneers tomorrow night from Tampa.

Here we go.... NFL Wildcard Weekend and we have got some real good games lined up. Let's go through a quick rundown of today's games with our picks.

Saturday - 4:35pm
#7 Seattle Seahawks @ #2 San Francisco 49ers:

As well as the 49ers are playing and the fact that they are sparked by the emergence of Brock Purdy at QB with his plethora of weapons from CMC to Deebo, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, etc. This game should be a drubbing, it is unfortunate because Seattle had a heckuva season from a team that wasn't supposed to win a game and yet snagged that third Wild Card spot. But they are running into arguably the best team in the NFC right off the bat.

Picks; Josh - 49ers & James - 49ers

Saturday - 8:30pm
#5 Los Angeles Chargers @ #4 Jacksonville Jaguars

On paper this game favors the Chargers or at least it should. Not many people are taking the Jags seriously but we don't really know why. As good as the Chargers are led offensively by QB Justin Herbert but are also missing some pieces including WR Mike Williams. The Jags however are well coached with Super Bowl Winner Doug Pederson who has a star QB in Trevor Lawrence who may not have the huge flashy names in guys like Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, etc. But guys that can and have gotten the job done all year and that Defense to us is more intimidating than what the Chargers have. The unfortunate part for both these teams is whoever wins likely will have their season end next week because in all likelihood whoever wins this game goes to Arrowhead next week.

Picks: Josh - Jags & James - Jags

Stay tuned for the rest of our Wild Card weekend picks

Wow!!! So obviously this NHL offseason has been a wild one with a lot of moves that really started the week of the draft and has flowed deeper into the summer with one of the bigger name free agents in Kadri signing this massive deal. Here are our thoughts on the deal:

First off, as Leafs fans we are very happy for Naz, this is a guy who obviously has had his ups and downs both in Toronto and also in Colorado but two different types of downs given the markets of course. So to see a guy excel as much as he did last season was awesome and even though he wasn't wearing the Blue & White when he did so, it was awesome to see him raise the Stanley Cup as well. He is an amazing talent who works hard and has matured greatly.

Secondly, this contract is unbelievable. Term is a bit of a head scratcher for a 30 year old forward but the $ value is fair we believe. I mean to some it seems like a lot but this is a guy who probably should have been making more than he was anyhow. He is a Top 6 forward on pretty well every team in the league and in some is even the #1 center.

The fit..... Well I mean it is an interesting fit going to Western Canada but our belief is that it should work as he likely plays a lot with Huberdeau & Lindholm.

Congrats Naz on your pay day, and best of luck out in Calgary.

What are your thoughts on the deal?
