So I’ve decided to start a new service, and it’s come from a place of passion for me. I interviewed my Dad a few weeks ago, wanting to learn more about his life and document it so I have something to look back on after he’s gone. The people I have shared this with have hired me to do the same for their parents/grandparents so I thought I might make it an ongoing service. When I was at uni, we read this book called The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. It explores how a number of small actions at the right moment in time can create a huge shift. Gladwell explains it as “that magic moment when an idea, trend or social behaviour crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.” I think we are there with Women’s sport. We are witnessing ‘the tipping point’ in real time. So pay attention. Over the last few years there have been leaps with Women’s sport in Australia. The Women’s Big Bash League, the NRLW, the AFLW, all priming Australia for one moment that tips us over the edge. That happened on Saturday night with the Matilda’s vs France. This game has broken so many viewership, attendance and even crowd enthusiasm records and you can feel the shift. Everywhere you look there is support for the Matilda’s and it feels like Australia is finally on board. Regardless of the outcome of this World Cup. All of these Women and the Women that preceded them, in all sports, have created a shift that will forever change the way sport is played in Australia and the World. Since I started working on @thesportsocialpodcast with Libby and Georgie, we have had so many conversations about the shift that was coming and the opportunities that would come with it. It’s an exciting time for Australian sport and we all have a front row seat!

As a way for all of our friends to continue to get together at least once a year we throw an annual golf tournament.
