All throughout the Scriptures, we are told to fear God. In both Old and New Testaments, people who fear God are blessed and those who do not face judgment. But what does this fear mean? Is it simply reverence and respect? Is it simply terror and fright? Most people that we have talked to are uncomfortable with confronting the idea of "fearing" God.

In this episode, we argue that a proper fear of God is a balance of both: respect and terror. This reality is not something to be run from but instead something that The Lord has given us for our own good and sanctification.

In this week's episode, we sit down with one of our mentors - Norman Walker. Norman has been in ministry for almost 50 years. We ask him how over the course of five decades he has remained the happiest person that we know.
This episode is full of wisdom as we listen and learn from our brother Norman. He currently serves at Fuel Church in Lakeland, FL as the care pastor.

Even though Norman exudes happiness, his life has not been immune to affliction. He has three grandchildren with CF (Cystic Fibrosis) and he has had to endure unhealthy church environments. Yet, he has stayed connected to the joy of The Lord.

Listen today to Norman's story and get some practical wisdom on how to stay joyful in Christ.

In Matthew 7, Jesus tells us not to judge. In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul tells us to judge. Are Paul and Jesus at odds? What do we do with these two passages that seemingly tell us two different things?

In this week's episode, we talk about one of the most misused verses of all time, Matthew 7:1:

Judge not, that you be not judged.

What is Jesus telling us in this passage and how do we reconcile it with 1 Corinthians 5?

We talk about judging, our recent trip to Savannah, and man-colds in this week's episode!

On the eve of Jesus' betrayal and arrest, Jesus offers a word of encouragement to His disciples. He tells them that He is one with The Father and that they should take heart and not be afraid. Then, Jesus utters some of His most famous (and some of His most abused) words in all of the Gospels:

Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
- John 14:13-14

Sadly, these words are normally stripped from their context and plugged in when someone needs a wish granted. Is this what Jesus Christ had in mind when He uttered these words? We don't believe so.

We discuss this, Josh's monotone voice, and a guy named Henry in today's episode!

It is not uncommon to hear verses taken out of context. For the next few weeks we will be taking verses that are often taken out of context and show how they should be used.

In Esther 4, Mordecai is imploring Esther to take a stand against King Xerxes and he tells Esther that maybe she has been brought to the King's palace for such a time as this.

Often times, this verse is used in today's context to symbolize an adventure or calling one feels on their life. Is this how we should use this verse today? Listen now!

Last week we talked about legalism. This week we are talking about antinomianism. The word derives from two Greek words literally meaning "against" (anti) "law" (nomos). In its most technical form, antinomianism stresses grace above the law in the sense that it denies the requirement for Christians to obey the commandments of Scripture. We talk about the dangers of this kind of teaching/living. Also, we talk about Noah's newfound love life.

Legalism is one of the most subtle sins that a Christian can slip into. We have almost all at some point in our Christian walks been both the victim and perpetrator of legalism. Oftentimes rooted in good intentions, however legalism is nothing other than adding to Scripture. In this episode, we talk about some of our personal experiences with legalism and how to guard against it. Also, it's only 35 minutes long!

One of the most common expressions in the church today is, "God told me..." We hear it from pastors, songs, authors, and more. Despite its prevalence, we are asking the question: is it biblical? What do we make when people claim that God is audibly speaking to them or even that they have a divine conversation going with the Father? We discuss all this and more in this week's episode. Plus this one is only 43 minutes long 😉

Politics have become the golden calf of the American Church. Those that consider themselves "conservative" pitted against those who consider themselves "liberal." In this episode, we talk about the role of government, the nature of government, and how the Bible tells us to conduct ourselves in response to the government.

There is an assault on gender roles in today's culture. What the Scripture describes as God-honoring, modern thought describes as oppressive and "toxic." In this week's special episode, we have Ruth Walker as our appreciated guest! Ruth has been married to her husband, Norm, for several decades. She has exhibited biblical womanhood all throughout her life and we wanted to invite her on the show to share with us how she views biblical womanhood and her role as a woman.

Today, there is an assault on the gender roles of men and women. However, regardless of what 'scholars' and 'psychologists' say, the Bible has spoken and it doesn't bend to the incessant changing of ideals and paradigms.

If you call yourself a Bible believing Christian, you are called to have certain qualities as a man and certain qualities as a woman. There can be nuances and personality differences but the fundamentals remain the same.

Christians, do not bow to what culture says is "manly." Do not reject the idea that manliness is something to be ashamed of or "toxic." It isn't. Manliness is God-given, as is femininity, and they are things that we need to walk in.

Have you ever heard of the “name it and claim it” movement? Have you ever heard of the health-and-wealth Gospel? This is called the Word of Faith movement. It is radically unbiblical and tragically pervasive. WOF draws a lot of its practices from the New Age movement as well as universalism. Listen today!!

Prophecies are a dime a dozen these days. As we approached election season, many "prophets" declared boldly that Trump would win re-election by a landslide. When that didn't happen, these false prophets claimed demons and humans messed up their God-given prophecies. But what is Biblical prophecy? What are the qualifications? We talk about all this and more on this episode.

This week's episode is about the Jehovah's Witness. There is usually a shroud of confusion around who they are and what they believe. As with Mormonism, they are typically lumped in with Protestant Christianity. However, they have some striking differences that would exclude them from being known as Protestant Christian or Christian at all. The first and foremost being they do not believe in the deity of Jesus.

Open theists believe that since the future has not happened yet it is unknowable by everyone, including God. Open theists teach that man has full autonomous free will and God is constantly trying to keep up with the choices we are making.

Is this true? Is this biblical?

Paul uses the word "mystery" time and time again in the New Testament to describe salvation. There are indeed many mysterious things: the incarnation, regeneration, new heart, etc. In the next few episodes, we want to take a look at the mystery of salvation. This week, we will look at the present reality of salvation. What does the Bible mean by regeneration? How is one born again? We hope to answer these questions and more using only the Bible as our guide!
