We love a full circle moment and we also love an analogy…

The extent of Allah’s sufficiency is entirely incomprehensible, a wonderful reminder as we head into the last week of Ramadan. Let’s actively increase the amount for which we’re asking and pleading, He swt is limitless and He loves to give.

With the moon taking on a fuller form, the skies become a luminescent reminder that we’re about halfway through the blessed month of Ramadan. It presents an opportunity to reflect on the days gone, before looking forward to the days ahead. And so we too share with you some content, both old and new!

There are people whose presence is like an oasis in a desert. When you’ve found yourself in a tight spot, life feels like it’s constricting around you, each turn delving you deeper into the maze…and relief arrives. In the form of a helping hand or a companion for the road. There are times when we feel Allah’s provision so keenly through the people He sends our way.

This episode’s beautiful stories are about these people, those who showed up for our storytellers at the right place, at the right time. Link in bio!

In rays of sun glistening upon endless expanses of water.
Resplendent forces of creation.
The hum of silence, concealing a whole host of unseens.
Solitude yet never really alone.
In being drawn to souls, the ones who have stood at our shoulders before.
But the magnetism is not of this world.
An unassuming seed of resolve when resolve seemed all but lost.
Growing into a long awaited turning of tides.
And when forehead finally greets ground, yearning for rest.
We remember Him, the Most Glorified, the Most High.

ANNOUNCEMENT: WE’RE EXPANDING!
As many of you will know, Submissions is run by a small group of volunteers with a beautiful vision: to unite the Muslim community through its many stories. To be one another’s listening ears, shoulders to cry on, hysterical belly laugh companions and most importantly, to serve as reminders of Allah swt through it all.

EXCITINGLY we’re on a journey to grow, and are looking for people to help and better us InshaAllah ✨

To our dearest listeners,

As the month of Ramadan draws us close in its embrace, we are reminded to lean in to the warmth of our blessed companion. In being allowed by the Almighty to reach this moment, we give nothing but thanks and return the embrace in any way we know how. For our Creator sees, hears and knows all. Through each opportunity for good with which we’re presented, we seek His pleasure and His alone.

We pray these days are a means to attain the spiritual closeness, fulfilment and development you desire. Keep us in your Duas.

Love, peace and Salaams from the Submissions Team

Do you know the feeling of life passing by in a daze? When the smoke alarm sounds because you’ve left something too long in the oven; or when your daughter turns 11 but surely it’s only been a couple of years since she was a toddler?! PIN numbers, keys, the purpose of life, we are all prone to forgetting. There are moments though that shake us back to reality, back to remembering. We are thrilled to bring you out latest episode where we hear three wonderful storytellers describe experiences that brought the remembrance of Allah swt into sharp focus.

We are told in the amazing hadith qudsi:
“I am to my servant as he expects of Me, I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly better than his…” (Bukhari and Muslim)

What helps you to remember? Let us know in the comments!

We’re back! Episode 5 of Submissions Season 2 is out now with two wonderful new hosts. The Quran tells us that experiencing loss is an inevitability for the believer, though this may come in many forms. Living through the pandemic has made this a reality for many of us - from the loss of routines, to loved ones and livelihoods. In grappling with processing these experiences, there are layers of light to be found, and the chance to understand ourselves and our emotions better. In this episode join us as we hear stories from 3 Muslims bravely sharing their experiences of losing someone or something, whilst finding beauty and Allah’s presence in each occasion. Eid Mubarak everyone!💛

To mark the occasion, we have released a special Eid edition of our podcast. In this episode, we hear beautiful verses of poetry recited by the poets themselves with insights shared by our hosts.

Poetry is a form of art used by writers to express their feelings and emotions, in a way which invokes similar emotions in us, the listener. Through the use of metaphors and prose, these four writers describe their spiritual connection with our Lord and their personal journeys to understanding their faith.

Special thanks to & Professor Joel Hayward for sharing these pieces with us!

We are well into the final ten days of Ramadan, we can’t believe it Subhan’Allah! Here is a short but sweet Ramadan reflection from the point of view of a non-Muslim, who reflects on some of the warmth the month brings to those around her🥰

Have you heard our most recent episode yet? Here’s a snippet!🗣

Our storyteller here retells the steps she took to rebuild her relationship with Allah swt. In a later part she recounts feeling overwhelmed with emotion when she realises He has responded to her most troubling worries and fears. Sometimes it is difficult to see beyond our current hardships. But through Asma’s story, we hear how the plans of the Most High are truly what is best for us - we just need to place our full trust in Him.

Whilst Ramadan is definitely about far more than food, the breaking of bread and sharing of special meals is entwined with many of our fondest memories of the month - whether that’s breaking into a box of doughnuts with friends after taraweh, learning traditional soups from grandparents, or passing around piles of dates and snacks at communal gatherings. What dishes give you Ramadan nostalgia? Let us know in the comments and tag a friend!

We hope you enjoy this round up of some of our favourite pages to visit for iftar (and suhoor!) inspo🥘

We’re over the 🌙 to have been selected as one of the podcasts to listen to over !

This is a huge moment for us Alhamdulilah and a great achievement to begin our month ❤️

We wanted to share the 7 other Muslim-run podcasts that are also featured and can be listened to on for free. Each of these cover a range of topics relevant to all of us (Muslims & non-Muslims!) through personal stories, engaging debates and important ‘need to be had’ discussions.

Have a listen by searching “Ramadan” on Spotify or clicking the link in our bio! 🥳🥳🥳

Ramadan is finally here!🌙
We pray this month is filled with peace and blessings for you and your loved ones! May Allah swt accept all of our Duas and efforts during this most merciful month.

Have you listened to our most recent episode yet? What was your favourite story and is there a moment which particularly resonated with you?

For me, moving into yet another exam filled Ramadan is disheartening especially when considering all the time which could be spent reading Qur’an or listening to an Islamic podcast. But Uncle Asad’s stories were a reminder of how important it is to keep your Islamic values at the forefront of anything you do, because what is meant to be has already been written by Allah swt. So even though worrying about exams is not part of my ideal Ramadan, whatever I do is for the sake of Allah swt and I trust He has planned this to be beneficial for me.

Allah SWT mentions in Surah Luqman, Verse 27: "And if whatever trees upon the earth were pens and the sea [was ink], replenished thereafter by seven [more] seas, the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise."

Growing up, many of us learn to be independent and take charge of how we want to live our lives. But as Muslims, we can try and create the life that we want but this can only ever be within the boundaries set for us by Allah swt. Our stories have already have been captured by the Best of Writers, and so we are guided to make choices which will benefit us in this world and the next.

In our latest episode, we hear from three individuals who have witnessed how Allah swt cares for us through good and difficult times. Their stories are a reminder to trust what Our Creator has written for us and know that only by placing our trust in Him, will we be able to move beyond the uncertainties we experience.
