Margarita has a boy on her mind who, despite all the red flags, promised her the world. What Margarita did not know was that a good man was closer to her than she thought.

Side Note:
I absolutely loved the intro to this show. It was like a surreal pink dream mixed in with elements from the very realist show.

A simple story that simply worked.

Nihan and Kemal had one of the most beautiful and intense romances I’ve ever seen. They were the couple we were all rooting for and wanted to see triumph in the end.

Emir was obsessed with Nihan and casted a shadow over them. He would not let them be together. Kemal made the ultimate sacrifice by taking out himself and Emir just to give Nihan freedom.

In one of the saddest, bittersweet endings I saw, love won. It might not have won in the way that we wanted but Kemal’s sacrifice was an act of love.

A murder mystery, two people that shouldn’t know each other and somehow there’s dinosaur bones involved. Girl what is this show? 🤨

Giselle Gonzales’ new novela Imperio de Mentiras just premiered and that first episode was so good!

It was HIGH hey messy.

We start out with our protagonist Leo saving a bunch of trafficked kids at a carnival. They pulled out THE BUDGET. 💵Every scene looked good and professional. This is what novelas should look like in 2020.

Angelique as Elisa was serving acting real ness IN THE FIRST EPISODE. I don’t even need to watch the rest. Just giver her an Emmy already. In sure y’all some some left over from the other day. 😩🙌🏻

Elisas daddy wounds up dead with Leo’s girlfriend and we got us a murder mystery YALL.
We been watching these murder shows like Unsolved Mysteries, Cold Case Files, the First 48, Forensics Files.
(What other murder shows y’all been watching?) Girl we experts at this point. 💁🏼‍♀️

There’s a bunch of sus people like the mom who thinks she’s getting cheated on, the crazy sister, the shady uncle. 🤔. The most unexpected is some random dude who wanted dinosaur bones. 🦖🦕
My dude really said hand over them bones or I’ll kidnap your sister. If we have dinosaur bones as a key plot device imma lose it. 😂😐WHAT IS THIS MESS.

That episode was good af tho. It was lightning fast, and it did a great job and establishing the main characters. I already love Elisa and all the sus people around her.

I WILL DEFINITELY KEEP WATCHING.

“Es una Descarada, Pero La Más Hermosa”

Rubi is that bish👏🏻
She’s the original Latina beauty. She redefined Latina beauty long before Eva Longoria or Sofia Vergara were a thing. is absolutely gorgeous. 😍

Rubi be walking down the street and they be like: hey mami 😏
And she be like: ain’t nobody got time for your broke ass😒. A QUEEN. 🙌🏻

Was she problematic? Yes. 🌚
Girl will steal your man and invite you to the wedding. 💅

What was the most savage thing you remember Rubi did?

She really just woke up and decided to ruin lives. The reason: BECAUSE WAS PRETTY. 😳
Girl thought she deserved it all bc she won the genetic lottery. 🙄
But no shade to teresa but at least Rubi admitted she was poor. Everyone knew her broke ass. 🤐

This novela was wild as. It really had a bunch of cat fights and solved most of its problems by throwing people off buildings. We were honestly hooked.

Today is the first day of ✨Hispanic Heritage month✨

This background gives me a unique perspective on life:
I’ve seen my family work tirelessly. I learned hard work and perseverance from them.
I was raised by strong women and that made me realize that men and women are equal.
Through this I learned to put love and heart into everything that I do. 😊

I love sharing my culture with other and uniting people of different backgrounds.
I encourage you all to learn about the many wonderful Latin American countries and celebrate our culture.

I love Giselle’s novela because she focuses on the ACTING.

She casts are always filled with wonderful actors who are there to give us a performance!

Imperio de Mentiras is the first major remake of a Turkish novela ( ) made by televisa. (No one cared about YAGO, so don’t even bring that mess up.) I can’t think of a better producer to handle this project. Giselle has stumbled a couple of times, but she always brings the quality to all of her productions. This is going to be filled with so many interesting characters. Just look at that shiny cast 🥺
Alejandra’s character in particular will have Stockholm syndrome.

I peeped the first episode and while it’s too early to tell, it was a good debut! Who else is watching this next week on ? 😁

Altair is absolutely beautiful and talented. Victoria from Por Amar Sin Ley is my favorite character that she had played.
Altair is mostly known for her villanas (that turn good start the end). She played the noble attorney Victoria, a strong woman who is as kind as she is tough.

Who else thinks it’s time she gets her own leading role?

I love this incredibly cute picture of Ana Brenda with La India Maria.
It’s usually cringe and face service when they put in popular characters into novelas, but la India Maria fit perfectly into corazón indomable. This was La India Maria’s last novela appearance. She would pass away two years later. 😢

La India María is an iconic Mexican character. Corazon Indomable will be repeated in Mexico soon.

Rebelde & RBD became a whole phenomenon. DECADES later rebelde is still making an impact. Rebelde music was rereleased con Spotify last week and the songs topped the charts. (Sálvame in particular was number 1, I guess y’all STILL not over that dude back in 2007😂)

Rebelde started out as such a good novela. Over time the novela took a backseat to the group. It was basically an hour long commercial for the group which was a runaway success at the moment. Which was your favorite song?

Dulce Ambición Day 4:
Cake Baking meets Game of Throne.

The plot starts to veer away from the depressing backstory and into the content we were all asking for: Cake baking. FINALLY the plot starts.

María de la Paz found out she got pregnant and started her cake baking business all in the same episode. I love the fast pace and how they get to the point.

On the other side of the coin, grandma stages a massacre (complete with a burning purse and horse 🐎 ) that would put Game of Thrones to shame. Granny Dulce dispatched all her enemies and we can finally move on to the main plot.

Quick observations:

✔️The fast pace of the show is a breath of fresh air. Things just happen.
❌It’s a blunder to start a cheerful show about baking with such a heavy backstory. I’m sure many people got the wrong impression of this show from this first week.
✔️Im looking forward to more cake baking, 20 year time jump and ✨digital influencers✨

Dulce Ambición Day 3 Reaction:
A cake of hope in the middle of bleakness.

Brazilian novelas are known for huge ensemble casts and deep character development.

It was difficult keeping up with who was who. The episode started rapid firing characters at us. I liked that it didn’t try to hold our hand and treat the audience like they’re dumb. The writers basically said: all these people matter, you are intelligent enough to figure out who they are.

On the flip side, we keep getting more murders and bleakness. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ready for the real story to start. Im almost getting over this faux murder western. This isn’t what we were promised, and this “pre-season” is overstaying it’s welcome.

Thankfully María de la Paz moved on to the city and the plot seems to be going the right way now. I can see people getting turned off by the bleakness and violence.

Quick Observations:
✔️Finally! The cake baking we have been promised from the promos! I think we are all eager to see the protagonist move on with her life.
❌The murder family rivalry continues and honestly is getting exhausting. This could have easily been a flashback here and there. I can see people getting fed up with this and leaving.
❌Too many characters in too little time. While I appreciate that they don’t treat us like dummies like in some other novelas, I wish they gave us some time to understand who these people are. Regis literally dropped a minute of his back story and I was so lost.
✔️Fast pacing. I love that the plot just gets to the point. Viví got yoinked by that random couple, and the plot didn’t drag it out, they just got to the point. I love that everything here happens fast. Now let’s just ditch the murder families and get to the baking.

Dulce Ambición Episode 2 thoughts:

Somehow, this show is about baking?
Things got bleak real quick. The cheery intro about positivity and BAKING got lost in this family feud where guns are abundant and death roams constantly (to the point where the town has to put up a sign of how many says they amount of days they have gone without a murder).
Im getting a lot of Breaking Bad vibes from this starting season. Everything is bleak and barren despite how beautiful everything is framed.

María de la Paz is front and center, and even though we just met her, we can’t help but root for her to get away from all of this and move on to her cheerful cake baking future.

Some quick observations:
✔️They made amazing use of the church landscape. Day 2 and this novela is absolutely beautiful. I loved the shot right above the car and the landscape when María de la Paz was escaping.
❌Things got too grim too quickly. I feel like I’m watching a crime novela from the competitors. I feel like this could have done in flashbacks because it feels super out of place from the rest of the show. I hope this does not put people off because the rest is nothing like this.
✔️Brazilian novelas are big on exposition, developing each character and taking their time to roll out the plot and it shows. Some see this as slow, but it’s really diving into the characters and getting to know them.

Overall rating:
7.5/10

The bleakness of the family feud is getting repetitive but thankfully today we are moving on to those cakes that we have been thirsting for 😁🧁

Before Thalia gave us her Maria’s, there was Veronica Castro. She started in many 80s novela that were very similar Thalia’s novelas. Mara la del Barrio is actually a remake of Veronica Castro’s novela: Los Ricos Tambien Lloran.

This novela Rosa Salvaje has actually not been remade (which is strange because televisa recycled everything in the 2010s). This was before I was even born so I haven’t watched this fully. I have seen clips from the show and it had the same style as the Maria novelas.

Isadora from Destilando Amor was seriously misunderstood. She wasn’t really a bad person, she was just desperate for love and validation. She married Rodrigo knowing full well that he loved another woman. Though her intentions were not 100% pure (there was plenty of monetary interest behind choosing Rodrigo), I do think she was intending in falling in love with her husband. Isadora to her misfortune, faced the bitter reality of living with someone who does not love back. Due to this frustration, she started sleeping around with other men, partially to get back at her husband (our of pure pettiness) and partially seeking validation. She eventually has a child with her brother in law (who is a good for nothing and vividor), and it all comes crashing in the scene posted. Isadora is shameless and a hipocrite when exposes. She knows what she did and she’s not particularly sorry because she views her cheating as payback for her husbands lack of love. In the end, Isadora does come to her senses after her baby daddy ditches her (and dies in a fiery car crash). Isadora is unique because she evaded a villana punishment. She let’s go of her life of luxury with Rodrigo, moves in with her baby father’s mother and together they raise her child. She decides to turn over a new leaf and be her own breadwinner. She becomes a HISTORY TEACHER, which was extra random, but we are here for this women empowerment. Isadora in the end is shown being repent full for her actions and stays out of the protagonists’ lives and moving on with her own. ________ Isadora was masterfully played by the amazing @marthajulia_ ________ #destilandoamor #marthajulia #lagaviota #novelasmexicanas #televisanovelas #telenovelas #angelicarivera #eduardoyañez
