’s Security Service (SBU) has reported that it foiled a plot by “an organized criminal group coordinated by Russian special services” to carry out “a series of attacks on facilities in the border regions of Ukraine.”

SBU released a statement saying “The SBU is taking comprehensive measures to prevent and neutralize threats of subversive activities against the national security of our country. During a large-scale operation in Zhytomyr and Kharkiv, Ukrainian counter intelligence officers neutralized an organized criminal group coordinated by Russian special services.”

The SBU also added that an explosive device, small arms and ammunition were seized during raids and that “The gang's organizers were preparing to carry out a series of robberies on the city's infrastructure, including the commercial sector. According to their plan, this should have destabilized the internal situation in the regions.”

“Run for your life” — Iranian graphic displayed on billboards in Tehran in November 2021 showing the American octopus wrapped around an oil tanker as Iranian boats move in to engage. Third picture shows a billboard in Tehran’s Valiasr Square. The billboards appeared amid the ongoing standoff in the Persian Gulf between Iran and the US, specifically an incident reported 25 October in which Iranian forces boarded and detained a Vietnamese tanker whose Iranian oil they claimed the US was attempting to seize (denied by the US). The tanker was eventually released, though without the oil, with Iran claiming the incident as a “humiliation for an empire in decline”.

Ongoing Battle of Hasakah •

US Special Forces (Group) have begun directly assisting the Syrian Democratic Forces in repelling IS fighters from the area as fighting continues.

This is the largest IS attack since 2019. As of now, over 100 IS fighters are confirmed dead with an estimated 40 Kurdish fighters killed in action as well. The fighting has also displaced upwards of 10,000 people living nearby. It is still unknown how many IS prisoners escaped during the ongoing fighting.

Coalition forces are currently engaged with IS prisoners still putting up a fight in or near the al-Sina prison.

The Department of Defense has confirmed more aid is going to Ukraine as 8,500 troops have been put on “high alert” - with potential to be assigned to the NATO Response Force.

Diplomatic talks have primarily proved fruitless and American, European leaders alike have stated a Russian invasion is imminent.

President Biden has made a statement hinting at the possibility of US troop movements in Eastern Europe to buffer NATO allies. He also said he was considering personally sanctioning Russia of Russia were to invade.

"We have no intention of putting American forces, or NATO forces, in Ukraine. But we -- as I said -- they're gonna be serious economic consequences if he [Putin] moves.” President Biden said.

The State Department has hinted that there is no sign of deescalation.

🇧🇾 🇷🇺 Russian military equipment arriving today in Gomel, Belarus on trainbeds that purportedly occupied half the departure and arrival tracks. Note the numerous logistics and supply trucks with fuel as well as armored vehicles including an ZSU-23 AA Shilka. In my opinion these types of vehicles, considering a majority are logistical or support in nature, indicate the foundations of a frontline supply route rather than sabre-rattling intimidation. Time will tell.

🇺🇸 A Texas woman has been arrested after she approached a mother at Walmart and tried to buy her baby. Rebecca Lanette Taylor, 49, was at the store in Crockett, Texas, when she approached the mother, remarking that she liked the baby's blond hair and blue eyes, and asked how much he cost. The mother laughed it off at first but Taylor then reportedly told her that she had $250,000 in her car. The mother told her to back away from her son after she continued to press the issue.

Taylor then said she had been wanting to purchase a baby for a long time. The mother waited for Taylor and a woman she was with to leave to the store, concerned about the incident. But lo and behold Taylor was waiting for in the parking lot and then yelled at her that she would pay $500,000 'because she wanted him and she was going to take him,'.

Taylor was arrested on January 18th, and charged with sale or purchase of a child, which is a third-degree felony in the state of Texas, punishable with up to 10 years in prison. She was released on Thursday from the Houston County Sheriff's Office on a $50,000 bond.

🇺🇸 🇺🇦 8,500 American soldiers have been put on "high alert" for deployment to Eastern Europe in the possibility of a Russian invasion by Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin. The Pentagon made the announcement on Monday stating that most of the 8,500 troops would join the NATO Response Force (NRF). The NRF is a multinational force comprised of around 40,000 land, air, maritime and special operations troops the alliance can deploy on short notice as needed. The remaining forces seperate from the NRF would be part of a specific American response group in the case of a crisis.

This came as earlier this week the Biden administration was considering sending as many as 5,000 U.S. troops. Around 70,000 U.S. troops are currently stationed in Europe with roughly 6,000 U.S. forces are deployed in Eastern Europe on a mostly rotating basis, including about 4,000 in Poland. Germany has the most at 33,900, Italy at 12,300 and the UK at 9,300. However, the number of US troops stationed in Germany has more than halved between 2006 and 2020, dropping from 72,400 to 33,900.
