One of the most famous activities of Songkran, or Thai New Year Festival, is the bathing of Buddha images. Water symbolizes purity and is a much-beloved cooling agent in the heat of the Thai summer 🙏🏻

The ritual of bathing Buddha images with scented water is a symbolic act of reverence and cleansing, and is believed to generate good karma for the participants. Ritual bathing can also be performed on revered monks and elders that one respects. The ritual is emblematic of the gentle nature of the Thai people, as well as our spiritual beliefs.

Khao Chae: a traditional escape from the summer heat !! ❤️🇹🇭☀️🌸

🍚🌸 Khao Chae: a traditional escape from the summer heat !

As the sweltering summer descends upon Thailand, the search for a cooling respite becomes a priority for locals and tourists alike. Among the traditional remedies to the relentless heat is a unique and aromatic dish known as "Khao Chae." This dish is not just a meal; it's a cultural artifact that encapsulates the ingenuity of Thai culinary traditions in battling the tropical heat.

👨‍🍳 Khao Chae is a set meal of rice soaked in chilled jasmine-infused water, served with assorted accompaniments. This menu was originally favored by King Rama IV and King Rama V. In the royal context, this dish was referred to as "Khao Sawoei" or "Khao Chae Sawoei," which translates to rice prepared specifically for the king's consumption.

Khao Chae is served at a cool temperature, and infused water helps you stay hydrated during the dry season.
💡 Let’s explore the culinary composition of Khao Chae

- Fresh Vegetables (Thai fingerroot / Green mango / Cucumber / Red chilli)
These are the mixes of flavors: spicy, sour, sweet, crisp, and cool, which provide refreshment and create complexity in the same way.

- Kai Kem Thod (Fried Salted egg)
These are salty and rich, with a creamy texture on the inside and a crispy outside.

- Chai Poe (Sweet Pickled Tunip)
This offers a sweet and slightly salty flavor, with a crunchy texture.

- Luk Kapi (Deep fried Shrimp paste balls)
These are full of savory and deeply satisfying taste. The outer layer is crispy, while the inside remains soft and flavorful, enriching the overall taste experience with its robust seasoning.

- Moo Foi (Shredded pork)
Typically sweet and slightly salty, this shredded pork is often crispy, adding both a chewy texture and a caramelized flavor.

- Prik yuak sord sai (Sweet pepper stuffed with minced pork wrapped in fluffy egg nest)
The sweet peppers are mild and provide a soft contrast to the savory, juicy minced pork inside. The fluffy egg nest adds a light, airy texture, making this side dish both delightful and complex in taste.

- Rice with Jasmine-Scented Water (Served Cool)
The Jasmine rice itself is subtly fragrant and mild, typically served slightly cool to provide relief from the heat.

3 Easy steps to enjoy ! ✨

1.Start with the Dry side dishes (such as Luk Kapi)
2. Scoop Up the Jasmine-Scented Rice
3. Sip the Jasmine-Scented soup
