Ugh, so true! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always felt older than my age. I was the 8 year old sitting with the adults at the party, while the kids were playing Mario Kart upstairs (not that I don’t love Mario Kart, I’ll kick your butt).

I just felt a lot of pressure and expectation to be mature and successful and have my whole life figured out instantly. And anyone who’s currently living a life can tell you that that isn’t very realistic. Especially coming right out of high school.

For me, music was always the path. I’ve been singing and playing guitar since I was young and I just never considered anything else. I went to Seneca College in Toronto for Independent Songwriting & Performance and was 18 when I graduated. 18 and done college… Now I needed to get a job and buy a car and a house and get married and… slow down!

That’s how my brain’s always worked, on to the next milestone or goal. It wasn’t until later when I realized I was missing the life I’m in because I was chasing and stressing out about the next big thing.

One day, I won’t live with my little sister and parents anymore. One day, my dog will be gone. One day, I’ll look back and realize that I missed living in the moment. I don’t want that, so I’m choosing to grow now. For myself and for the future me.

I might not have it all figured out, but I know I will one day and that’s good enough for me.

you are exactly where you’re supposed to be.

It’s taken me a long time to figure this out. When I went through a bad breakup, when my dad got cancer, when I got laid off (twice), it sure didn’t feel like life was working in my favour. It actually felt like the opposite.

When we reflect on the past, we can see how far we’ve come. And knowing that, it means there’s still so much higher to go. We are complete already, we just grow and adapt as we go through challenges.

The moment we stop doubting ourselves and standing in our own way, is when we can start to move forward and accomplish things we never thought we could.

That’s when we start to shine✨

Why did I decide to start an online business? Since I was 15, I’ve worked over 10 jobs and I’m currently on my second college program. I’ve found so many hobbies and things that I enjoy but nothing ever felt right enough to do forever.

Music and traveling have really been my main motivators ever since my first paycheque. I’ve sung my way across Canada on the VIARail train, boated around Europe on a cruise, built a rec centre in the Dominican Republic. I didn’t want to be limited to 2 weeks vacation at every job I have.

I want to retire my parents and set my sister up for college. I want to take my grandparents somewhere they’ve never been. I want to raise my future kids and have them know that their mom never gave up on her dreams and worked to create the life she wanted.

We should never settle for less than we deserve. That’s why I started. Why will you?

I’ve gotten into a lot of new things in the last year and a half. Started fresh with my wardrobe and started really liking fashion. Got back into kickboxing which I love and helps me channel any negativity into something positive. Went back to school, even though I was nervous I would feel like a failure.

The thing I’m most proud of is how much I’ve worked on myself and my relationships. I know

2020/21 were tough but it really helped me see which people I loved being around and which people weren’t meant to be in my life forever. And that’s ok. Some people are only supposed to be in your life for a short while, even if that’s hard to accept. I’ve spent more time outdoors, trying new things, I even learned all the world capitals for fun (I was really bored in lockdown).

Life is meant to be lived and I know that sounds very self-explanatory, but seriously! Go do a cartwheel, buy an ice cream cone and just look at the clouds.

Take a second for yourself today and enjoy being alive.

Do one thing everyday that scares you.

My best friend and I rescheduled 3 times to make skydiving happen. 3 is my lucky number and even better, when we got there, the plane was painted like Snoopy, which is my Mom’s favourite. It was meant to be!

PS: terrifying!!!

Hello! So nice to meet you all. My name is CJ and I’m 21 years old from Guelph, Ontario. I’m a musician, avid reader and traveler, I kick box and love my dog and friends. I’m so excited to start this journey and change my life, hopefully meeting some new friends along the way;) I have been wanting to get out of the “rut of life” for awhile now and felt really unsure of what to do. I went to college for music and have worked countless jobs that just haven’t fulfilled me. I’m currently in an Entrepreneurial Business program and working with The Freedom Era to create a new path for myself. I hope you’ll join me and we can learn together how to create the life we deserve
