ut it takes a lot of work. The path is rugged, messy, and full of bumps. It's an intensely emotional and challenging journey, often with unpredictable detours and dead ends. This isn't a straight road; it's not a miraculous salvation. Instead, it's an assertive direction that WILL guide you to a life of purpose and fulfillment. Every individual, despite their struggles, is a gem, emotionally battered and fractured. We often fail to see our inherent value. Rather than shaping our character to its full potential, we feed the shadows, riding off into the metaphorical sunset. Unhealthy habits, traumatic experiences, and challenging circumstances cloud our minds, creating a one-track focus on seeking comfort. However, as recovery unfolds, a new perspective emerges, revealing a life more beautiful than imagined. We aim to support you, your family, friends, and loved ones in navigating this transformative journey and witnessing the brilliance beyond the unpaved path to recovery. You are cherished. DISCLAIMER

✨ Define Your Shine®: A Living Practice Rooted in Authenticity ✨

Hello, You.

I’ve been reflecting on what Define Your Shine® truly represents and how it’s perceived. Let me take a moment to lovingly clarify:

At its core, Define Your Shine® is a meditation practice designed to foster and achieve self-realization. But over time, it’s grown into so much more—a living, breathing way of life.

DYS isn’t an ideology or belief system. It’s a practice that helps you uncover your brilliance and align with your most authentic self. It’s a process of healing, growth, and resilience that meets you where you are and empowers you to shine in every area of life.

Through the SHINE framework—Suffering, Humanity, Integrity, Nature, Engage—you’ll find tools for intentional living, self-compassion, and connection. DYS is flexible, inclusive, and honors each person’s unique journey.

So, if you’ve ever wondered, What is Define Your Shine®?—

It’s a practice. A process. A way of life. Rooted in love, humanity, and the belief that you are remarkable beyond measure.

💎 I’d love to hear from you: How do YOU define your shine?

Hi Friends,

Family dynamics can be complex, and navigating them often requires a balance of compassion and clear boundaries. It’s not always easy to create healthy space while staying true to ourselves, especially when misunderstandings arise.

Boundaries are not about cutting people off; they’re about fostering respect, growth, and connection in a way that works for everyone involved. While it may not always be understood in the moment, honoring your needs is a vital part of healing and empowerment.

If you’re processing similar dynamics, we’ve added two new worksheets in the Define Your Shine® private group to help you reflect and grow—one for setting boundaries and one for those navigating someone else’s boundaries. These are tools to support you in finding clarity and peace.

Remember, you are allowed to grow, heal, and set boundaries that protect your peace. Together, we rise.

Love and light,
Shawntell

Here’s something: you’re not obligated to chase every misunderstanding or soothe every opinion about you. People will say things, fill in blanks they don’t understand, and create their own stories—it’s their ego, their projection, not yours. What you do have control over is continuing to live authentically, to keep showing up as you know yourself to be. 🫶💎

I see you. I honor you. And I’m here to remind you of the unstoppable force you’ve become.

What Are You Really Feeling?

We often say “I’m sad” or “I’m angry,” but beneath those words is so much more—rejection, shame, loneliness, powerlessness. These emotions are universal, yet we rarely name them. Why? Because society tells us to bury, ignore, or push through them. But here’s the truth: defining what we feel is essential to healing.

Naming our pain is the first step to understanding it. It’s not weakness; it’s strength. When we recognize the layers beneath our sadness, anger, or fear, we reclaim our power to heal and connect.

Pause. Ask yourself, What am I really feeling today? Start there.

Let’s honor our humanity—together.

Hey Diamonds,

Ever felt that quiet ache when someone you love—maybe a sibling or best friend—seems to be on a completely different path? You’re growing, finding new insights, maybe even healing in ways that light you up, and naturally, you want to share that. But when it doesn’t resonate, there’s this mix of frustration, grief, and love that can be hard to hold.

If you’ve ever felt unseen or unheard by someone who’s supposed to “get” you, know you’re not alone. That subtle sadness is real. It’s not about who’s further along or who’s right or wrong; it’s just a natural part of change. When we’re evolving, we crave depth in our relationships, and it’s normal to want those closest to us to grow with us.

This journey—honoring both the love and the distance—isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. Allowing space for both truths to coexist, respecting your own journey while letting theirs be theirs, can be a profound act of love. Sometimes, honoring someone else’s path means recognizing the distance without forcing a bridge. It’s about holding peace within yourself and the unconditional love that remains.

💎 Let yourself feel everything that comes up without judgment. There’s no right way to feel, only a chance to learn about the depth of connection, patience, and love. Love them for who they are, and love yourself for all the beautiful ways you’re growing. It’s okay if your human self wants to “party” in frustration now and then. You’re human, after all.

Sending love, strength, and understanding your way.

Routines are helpful, but they only work as well as the mindset behind them. Instead of creating more routines to follow, consider shifting the way you see things. When we unlock a deeper awareness, we realize that everything we need is already within us. Routines then become tools to support our journey rather than crutches for stability or validation.

👉Are We Responsible for the Pain We Experience? A Compassionate Take on Manifestation and Humanity

Hello Diamond! ✨ Let’s lean into something both profound and challenging today, touching on a truth that may feel daunting: “You have manifested all of the struggles you perceive around you into existence because you allowed it to be established within you.” It sounds straightforward, AND, it’s layered with nuances that invite deeper exploration and compassion. Let’s break this down together.

When we talk about manifesting or attracting certain experiences into our lives, it’s easy to interpret this as meaning we’re solely responsible for every hardship we encounter. Let’s pause here. This perspective, though sometimes empowering, can also feel diminishing. It might even strip away some of the humanity from our experience—as if we’re entirely to blame for the pain we face or the challenges that come our way.

This mindset can feel isolating, making it seem like if we were “stronger” or “more positive,” we wouldn’t experience pain. Life is rarely that simple. Even those who deeply understand the inner journey of self-awareness and growth have moments of fear, vulnerability, and uncertainty. And sometimes, things happen that feel evil or out of our control. It’s part of the human experience.

👉Where Does Personal Responsibility Meet Compassion?

Here’s the balance: while we can influence our reality by nurturing our inner landscape, we’re also shaped by our humanity, our past experiences, and the world around us. This doesn’t mean we’re powerless, it means life brings complex situations, and not everything is within our direct control.

Witness suffering without judgment. This isn’t about self-blame; it’s a call to be present with our humanity. It means acknowledging that while we may carry patterns, beliefs, and unresolved wounds that influence our experiences, we’re also navigating a world that’s sometimes unpredictable, and even harsh.

This isn’t an invitation to feel shame for our pain but to hold space for it, to honor it as part of a much larger journey toward self-realization.

👉Shining Light on Dark Moments

For those moments where life feels “scary” or even “evil,” this framework invites us to step back and simply witness—to see what arises without immediately attaching it to personal failure or fault.

💎In these moments, ask yourself:

1. What am I truly feeling? Acknowledge the emotion without judgment.
2. What patterns might be at play? Are there familiar thoughts or beliefs? Sometimes, awareness alone can shift things.
3. What is beyond my control? Recognize what’s part of the human experience rather than an outcome of your inner world alone.
4. What’s one compassionate step I can take? Rather than trying to “fix” everything, focus on a single step that feels kind and supportive.

👉Being Human and Being Powerful Can Coexist

As we honor our inner power, it’s essential to hold space for our humanity. This means allowing room for fear, doubt, and moments of vulnerability. Not everything we encounter is solely a reflection of what’s inside us; sometimes, it’s a part of the shared human experience, and that’s okay.

Maybe the journey isn’t to make sense of every hardship but to find a balance where we can hold both our power to change and our capacity to experience without judgment. It’s about stepping into compassionate growth, where we’re not burdened by shame but lifted by the understanding that effort alone is progress.

Together We Rise. Whether you’re working through cycles of unworthiness, feeling like the world around you is out of alignment, or just trying to make sense of complex experiences, know that this journey is both personal and universal. You’re allowed to hold space for the darkness while you seek the light. You’re allowed to be both human and powerful. ✨

It’s Time to Show the World How Remarkable You Are. Let’s walk this path with compassion, embracing both the challenges and the possibilities that lie within us. Love and Light.

💥Let’s talk about reputation and resources, and what happens when life feels scarce.💥

Reputation isn’t just what people see; it’s how you see yourself. And when things get tough, it’s easy to find yourself chasing those “shiny” things—thinking that somehow they’ll fill the gaps. From the outside, it can look inauthentic, and honestly, often it is. Shiny things don’t bring real security or peace; they’re a quick fix that never quite satisfies.

When we’re in survival mode, we feel that lack deeply. And in that place, society’s quick labels can come at us hard—words like “suffering,” “despair,” “pathetic.” But let’s get real: all those words come from the same place—a place where our true needs aren’t being met. And when we’re disconnected from our needs, it’s easy to define ourselves by what we don’t have.

But here’s what I’ve learned: it’s not about chasing. It’s about knowing who you are, even when things feel sparse. When you find your security from within, the need for the “shiny” things fades. You’re not scrambling for validation or comparing yourself to anyone else—you’re grounded in the value you hold inherently. True worth doesn’t come from “more.” It’s already within you.

So ask yourself, are you living for the shiny things, or are you standing firm in your own truth? Authenticity is where real security lives. That’s where we break free from society’s rules and find out who we truly are.

🌟 The Counter-Narrative to “Keeping it All Together” 🌟

Society has this beautiful yet heavy expectation on many of us—the keepers. The keepers of schedules, of everyone’s emotional well-being, of the countless little things that keep life running smoothly. And for a long time, I thought this was the only way to measure my worth. The constant juggling, the unseen work, the quiet sacrifices… and for what? A pat on the back for being a silent hero?

But I’ve chosen a different path, one that doesn’t revolve around keeping every plate spinning perfectly. Instead, I’m embracing a life that’s mine to define, where gratitude isn’t a duty but a gift. Where I’m not just the “keeper” of everyone else’s peace, but the guardian of my own joy and purpose.

Choosing car-living and pursuing my dreams wasn’t me giving up. It was me letting go of what wasn’t truly mine to carry. My journey isn’t about fitting into society’s mold of resilience—it’s about thriving in a way that lets me be whole, real, and unburdened by the invisible weights I once felt obligated to hold.

To anyone feeling overwhelmed by being “the keeper,” I see you. But remember, you’re allowed to set some of those weights down. You’re allowed to build a life that lifts you up, too.

Here’s to breaking free and rising into our own light. ✨

Journal Entry 2023: Late night thoughts, here we go…

Let’s get raw about family dynamics. 💥

We’re raised with this idea that “blood is thicker than water,” but as soon as we start healing, we realize—yeah, you can walk away from anyone, even family, if you need to. When I started breaking free of those generational traumas, I realized that the things I no longer tolerated in myself, I also stopped tolerating in others.

So here’s where it gets tricky: you try to communicate this change. You’re met with two types of people—those who get it and want to join you on the ride toward healthier boundaries and healing, and then there are the ones who think you’ve gone off the deep end. They think you’re unrecognizable because they don’t understand that you’re not going to tolerate the old ways of being. They saw you in pain, in survival mode, and thought that was just “you.” But that wasn’t me thriving—that was me barely getting by.

And now, being around them feels like I’m in the very environment I worked so hard to heal from. The complexity is real, and the truth is, without everyone’s willingness to grow, the environment itself doesn’t change. You can’t get a good crop if the field’s still full of weeds, right? That’s why sometimes you have to put distance between yourself and even the closest family members. No love lost, just choosing peace over pain.

27/10/2024

Hey, You! If you’ve ever loved someone struggling with addiction, you already know it’s like being punched in the gut over and over. And yet, we keep showing up. Why? Because we give a damn. But let’s get real — love isn’t always enough to “fix” someone. And that’s hard to swallow. It’s brutal. But it’s the truth.

Look, I’ve done it all. I’ve opened my doors, created safe spaces, sat in hotel lobbies with police around, watched people go in and out, hoping THIS time they’d wake up and choose change. I even tried every resource, from advocacy groups to task forces, just to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I thought if I just put in enough work, if I just showed them enough love, maybe, just maybe, they’d see it and make the choice to turn things around.

And sometimes? It works. But a lot of times? It doesn’t. And guess what? THAT’S OK. That doesn’t make us failures. Our job isn’t to save people; it’s to show up, give it our all, and, yeah, keep loving them from a distance if that’s what it takes. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and I don’t care what anyone says — taking care of yourself is not selfish. It’s survival.

Here’s the thing: every act of kindness, every resource you try, every tear, every boundary you hold — that’s YOU doing everything you can. And it matters. It matters even if they don’t change. Because YOU are showing up, you’re doing the hard work, and you’re learning resilience in ways most people never will.

So, keep going, but don’t lose yourself in the process. Love hard, but protect your peace. And remember, you’re not alone in this. There are millions of us out here grinding, loving, and trying to help. That’s your strength. That’s your legacy.

Let’s make compassion louder, but let’s be smart about it, alright?
