My first attempt at hamburger buns, I just couldn’t get myself to buy them and feel like garbage after.

I was already making bread so I roughy I’d give it a try and they turned our perfectly!

But I never would have known unless I tried!!

After miscarrying our little girl at 12 weeks over 11 years ago, I’ve thought about getting a little “E” for her name, Esther.

I most definitely don’t need a little “E” to remember her. It’s more about the love and care, the deep ache of missing her yet so grateful for the few weeks I was able to carry her.

Do you love where you live?

Goodness, I feel like there are 500 different things happening in our town every week. I’m a “let’s go do it all” kinda person and sometimes I’m dragging my family (and they are always glad they came 😉) and sometimes they are all in!

Do you love “all the things” or is it just too much for you?

Over here grateful for this raw goat milk!

It’s no small feat, raising dairy goats and doing ALL the things. But I feel like every time we’re a little tired, spending time with our animals gets us back in the “let’s keep going” game.

This sourdough bread!!

I never thought I’d be that person making sourdough and honestly it was a bit of a struggle… the first two months 🤣 but once I got into a rhythm of it all, I really learned to love it!

Do you make sourdough?

Fermented garlic and honey

Immune booster, antibacterial, anti inflammatory, all natural (as well as many other things…)!

What you need:
•Peeled and slightly crushed garlic cloves (preferably organic)
•Raw, local honey

Directions:
•Fill jar 3/4 full with slightly crushed garlic cloves. (Slightly crushing the garlic cloves releases natural allicin which is a natural antibiotic.
•Pour honey into jar, making sure garlic is fully covered
•Cover loosely with a lid and keep in a dark place at room temperature
•Every couple of days, unscrew the lid to “burp” and then screw the lid on tight and flip over to coat garlic. Repeat.
•You’ll begin to see the fermentation bubbles appear in a week or two. Your fermented garlic honey will be ready in about a month.
•Once fermented, you can store in fridge if you prefer. Your fermented honey will last for a year!

How to eat:
•Eat the cloves and/or the honey. ENJOY!

These four boys are the very reason I strive to live a clean and non toxic life. I’m not perfect by any means and I do enjoy a scented candle but for the most part I sure do my best.

These are the days!

We really try to get out often and find new parks, trails or just new areas. It’s probably my favorite thing to do. Sometimes it’s a dud but most of the time it’s worth it!

Organization is not my strong suit… at all. But I basically dumped out our entire junk drawer and bought all new everything.

I don’t like to organize but I can’t function around clutter.

By far the most delicious plums from our orchard!

The waiting is hard for sure, you need them to be just right 👌🏼 but man they are worth the wait!

I made a sourdough “pop-tart” and filled them with these perfectly sweet plums!

This year we’ve really felt a draw to bring new experiences into our kids’ view. Doing more things around our area, doing hard things, doing fun things…

So far they’ve loved it. There’s been some resistance but in the end they’ve come out of it really happy and excited!

It’s a big day at the Cochstead!! We got two Kune Kune pigs!

We are looking forward to figuring this whole raising protein on the farm thing. If we hate it we never have to do it again. But it’s worth a try!!

Really love that we get fresh eggs every day. What a labor of love, feeding and loving our girls and in turn they provide delicious eggs for our family!

There can be such a stress when it comes to dental and let me tell ya, my busiest stressor is advocating for our children.

“No thank you, we don’t do fluoride”
“No thank you, no imaging today”
“You can go ahead and take the fluoride toothpaste out of our kids’ baggies, thank you”

Pretty common sentences I say each time we’re at the dentist for each of our kids.

There is so much more I could say but I don’t need to say because we are our only voice for our young children in environments like this.

It’s exhausting. I feel like a broken record. But I just keep at it to protect our kids from the future repercussions of what fluoride and imaging will do to them.
