After several dry days the weather begins to change this weekend. Humidity is increasing and radar shows some showers approaching from the west. A mixed bag today with clouds and sun, but some scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible as well. Periods of heavier rain and a better chance for more showers and storms tonight and Sunday.
Hurricane Ernesto is churning out in the Atlantic with 100 mph winds this morning. Hurricane warnings are in effect for Bermuda as the storm is expected to pass very close to the island.
Here in Delaware surf is increasing and there is a high risk for rip currents, which will continue right through the weekend as Ernesto passes by well to our east.
New Castle County seeing torrential downpours this morning. This area saw very heavy rain yesterday so be prepared for flooding conditions once again.
The first outer rainbands from Debby are approaching southern Delaware this morning. Look for another day of cloudy skies with tropical downpours and localized flooding once again.
Watching a band of heavy rain that has set up across Kent County this morning. Additional heavy downpours developing to the west will move in this afternoon.
First round of torrential rain heading for Northern New Castle County, likely moving in by 9:00 pm. Numerous flood warnings are in place in NJ and PA...be prepared for the possibility of flash flooding.
The eye of Hurricane Debby is crossing the Florida coast and making landfall now. Maximum sustained winds are 80 mph, making this a category 1 storm. It will be very slow to move over the next few days, creating extreme flooding conditions all across the southeast.
Showers and thunderstorms are on the increase once again this afternoon. Nothing severe right now but that could change with a few storms producing damaging winds.
An intense line of severe thunderstorms are approaching New Castle County. These storms are creating 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail, along with torrential downpours. If you are in New Castle County, be prepared to seek shelter when these storms approach.
Starting to see some showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon. One strong storm is located near Ocean City, Maryland and another is approaching Northern New Castle County. These hit-or-miss storms will be with us through this evening, any of which could produce gusty winds and torrential downpours.

Once again we are seeing some late evening showers and thunderstorms. If they hold together, they will approach western parts of the state after 9:00 pm.
A small but severe thunderstorm is approaching the Middletown area. This storm has a history of producing wind gusts to 60 mph.
Most of our weather moves from west to east, but every now and then things reverse course. There's an area of low pressure out over the ocean, drifting slowly to the west(known as retrograding). It won't affect our weather today, but will likely spread some clouds into the state on Monday, and perhaps a shower or thunderstorm, especially over northern parts of Delaware.
A lot of clouds today and radar this morning shows plenty of showers throughout the region. This will be the trend today with off and on showers, even a few thunderstorms. Highs will top out in the low to mid 80s
A dry morning commute as radar shows the storms from last night have moved away. A warm and humid day is on tap with highs 85-90 degrees. However that stationary front is still nearby and the next wave of showers and thunderstorms is expected to arrive this evening and last into the overnight hours.
