प्रेरणा/अभिप्रेरणा: अत्यन्तै सफल नेपाली महिला उद्यमीहरु:
देशभरका उद्योगी–व्यवसायीको छाता संस्था नेपाल उद्योग वाणिज्य महासंघको नेतृत्वमा भवानी राणा छिन । महासंघको नेतृत्वमा पुग्ने उनी नै पहिलो महिला हुन तापनि पाँचतारे होटेल चलाउनेदेखि लिएर विस्वस्तरिय प्रिमियम ब्रान्ड हाँक्नेसम्मका उद्यममा चम्केका थुप्रै नेपाली महिला छन । उनीहरुमध्ये कतिपय बिभिन्न विकसित देश छाडेर नेपाल फर्कने पनि छन । यसरी चम्कनेमा युवा महिलादेखि वृद्धासम्म छन ।

तीमध्ये एक हुन ज्योत्सना श्रेष्ठ । मेरिगोल्ड सयपत्री ज्वेलर्सकी प्रोपाइटर ज्योत्सना श्रेष्ठ रत्न, आभूषण तथा सुनचाँदी व्यवसायमा आवद्ध छिन् । उनी सञ्चालक रहेको गरगहना शोरुमहरु काठमाडौंको न्यूरोड र दरबारमार्ग जस्ता ठाउँहरुमा छन । रत्न, आभूषण तथा गरगहना उनको पुख्र्यौली व्यवसाय हो र उनी यस्मा आबद्ध भएको करिब तीन दशक भएको छ । ज्योत्सना पर्यटन व्यवसायमा पनि प्रवेश गर्दैछिन र झापामा पाँचतारे होटेल सञ्चालन गर्दैछिन ।

नूरप्रताप राणाले स्थापित गरेको गोल्डस्टारको बिजनेसमा बुहारी विदुषी राणा सक्रिय छिन । ६ वर्षजति कुमारी बैंकको मार्केटिङ म्यानेजर बनेकी उनले पछिल्लो पाँच वर्षदेखि गोल्डस्टारको ब्रान्डिङ र मार्केटिङ हेर्दै आएकी छिन । गोल्डस्टारले सातै महादेशमा आफ्नो ब्यापार बिस्तार गर्ने र हालसम्म कुन कुन देशमा पुगिसकेको बारेमा १७ अक्टोबर, २०२१ मा मेरो यही पेजमा बिस्तारमा लेखिसकेको छु । उनीहरूको युनिभर्सल ग्रुप अफ कम्पनीभित्र कुमारी बैंक, गोल्डस्टार, हात्तीछाप चप्पल, त्रिशूल ग्यास, युनिभर्सल फर्मास्युटिकल्स छन ।

नेपालको पहिलो पाँचतारे होटेल अन्नपूर्णको कार्यकारी निर्देशक हुन सिर्जना राणा । १३ वर्षदेखि श्रीमान कपिल राणालाई सघाउँदै होटेल व्यवस्थापनमा सक्रिय उन्ले पोखराको फेवाताल किनारमा ‘फिस्टेल लज’ र चितवनमा ‘जगतपुर लज’ समेत सञ्चालन गरिरहेकी छिन । उनी होटेल संघ नेपाल (हान)को वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष पनि हुन ।

उद्यमी वसन्त चौधरीकी एक मात्र छोरी हुन्, मेघा चौधरी । अहिले नर्भिक इन्टरनेसनल हस्पिटल मेघाकै काँधमा छ । अन्तर्राष्ट्रियस्तरको स्वास्थ्य सेवा दिइरहेको नर्भिकमा नेपालका हाइप्रोफाइल बिरामी पुग्छन् । नर्भिकलाई मुलुककै पहिलो नम्बरको हस्पिटल बनाइराख्न मेघा खटिइरहेकी छिन ।

यस किसिमका प्रेरणादायी र उदाहरणिय महिलाहरुको संख्या उल्लेखनिय रुपमा बढीराखेको छ र अझै होस भन्ने शुभकामना!

The Newar Community
One of dominant ethnic groups of Nepal, Newar is the indigenous group of Kathmandu valley that used to make almost the entire population of the valley before the Shah invasion in 1968. Before the invasion of the valley, the three cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur were autonomous Newar kingdoms and the latter two cities still have large number of Newar residents.

The Newars were primarily farmers and traders as the Kathmandu valley had fertile land suitable for rice cultivation and also trade between India and Tibet. During the Malla regime, the economic condition was stable and strong that gave the people to develop their skills in art, architecture and culture which is why these three cities are rich in cultural and architectural heritage. The language used by the Newar is called Nepal Bhasa, commonly known as Newari and has its own script and a rich literature.

Although very little is known about the history of development of the Newari culture and society, it is believed that Newars were Buddhist. They were, however, influenced by Hinduism because of its political dominance and many Newars practiced Vajrayana tradition of Buddhism with some having a strong faith in Hinduism and performing Hindu rituals as well. There is also hierarchal division of caste system on the basis of occupation and their social position among the Newars which was started by a Malla king. The highest class is obviously the priestly classes that are Shakya and Bajracharya and the priesthood is handed down to the sons by the fathers. Next on the status are Prashan, Joshi, Rajbhandari, etc. who used to be recruited in government services and worked as the advisors to the King. Then comes the worker class which included the farmers, artisans and craft men and the lowest are on the caste list are the untouchables who are supposed to be the cleaners and butchers. The whole social structure of a Newar community, hence, is built on this caste system. Although the traditional systems are changing in the society, some of the members of Newar community still follow the traditional occupational practices. Newars are found scattered in the various parts of Nepal even though they were originally from the Kathmandu Valley.

The Newars are rich in culture and religion and the best example for that are the numerous jatras, pujas and social ceremonies they manage to conduct even in today’s fast life.
